Modal Pushover Analysis Procedures Using Adaptive Load Distribution

open access: yes
The principal objective of this thesis is to extend the Modal Pushover Analysis (MPA) procedure to Displacement-Based Adaptive MPA procedure. A modal pushover analysis (MPA) procedure is an extension of pushover analysis procedure to take into account ...

The generalized E-DVA method: a new approach for multi-modal pushover analysis under multi-component earthquakes with local variables maximization [PDF]

open access: yes
Pushover analysis is a common nonlinear static procedure, performed to evaluate seismic response of civil structures. This approach allows considering the structural nonlineear behavior under earthquake loading in a simplifed yet efective way; however ...

Modeling the Distribution, Impacts, and Mitigation of Anthropogenic Heat in Los Angeles

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract Anthropogenic heat emissions from human energy consumption contribute to the urban heat island (UHI) effect, yet their spatiotemporal distributions and impacts remain uncertain. In this study, we develop a 100 m resolution, hourly anthropogenic heat flux (AHF) data set for Los Angeles County and use the Weather Research and Forecasting model ...

Seismic performance of round-end hollow RC tall bridge piers considering to higher-order vibration mode effect

open access: yesAdvances in Bridge Engineering
Round-end hollow reinforced concrete (RC) tall piers have been widespreadly utilized for railway bridges in river valleys and mountainous regions. The post-earthquake damage state of such bridge piers differs significantly from that of traditional short ...

Multi‐LiDAR Observations of Coastal Atmospheric Duct Evolution in Hampton Roads

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract To better understand the influence of atmospheric ducts on radio frequency (RF) operations, continuous high‐resolution observations of temperature and water vapor are essential. Hampton University's (HU) 48‐inch Raman‐Mie LiDAR provides such measurements through rotational and vibrational Raman techniques, enabling detailed monitoring of ...

Variability of the Climate in Athens‐Greece Over the Last 165 Years of the Period 1858–2023: An Assessment Based on Thornthwaite's Climate Classification and Relevant Indices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 7, 15 June 2026.
Athens' climate according to Thorthwaite is stable despite warming trends. Athens' climate remains semi‐arid and mesothermal over 165 years. Strong increases in evapotranspiration and stable precipitation were found. Soil water storage capacity affects water deficits but not aridity type.

Projected Intensification of Hydroclimatic Extremes in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, Under CMIP6 Scenarios

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 7, 15 June 2026.
The graphical abstract presents observed (1963–2023) and projected changes in hydroclimatic extremes in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It integrates dry‐spell duration (CDD) and extreme precipitation (R95pTOT) using CMIP6 multimodel ensembles under SSP1‐2.6, SSP2‐4.5, and SSP5‐8.5.
