Petri net synthesis and modal specifications. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In Petri net synthesis, a given finite labelled transition system (lts) should be solved by an injectively labelled Petri net, which means that the reachability graph of the Petri net is isomorphic to the given lts. Petri net synthesis goes back to the work of Ehrenfeucht and Rozenberg in 1990, and has since then been extended in various directions. In

Multi-Modal Modality-Masked Diffusion Network for Brain MRI Synthesis With Random Modality Missing

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging
Synthesis of unavailable imaging modalities from available ones can generate modality-specific complementary information and enable multi-modality based medical images diagnosis or treatment. Existing generative methods for medical image synthesis are usually based on cross-modal translation between acquired and missing modalities.

Joint Feature Synthesis and Embedding: Adversarial Cross-Modal Retrieval Revisited

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2022
Recently, generative adversarial network (GAN) has shown its strong ability on modeling data distribution via adversarial learning. Cross-modal GAN, which attempts to utilize the power of GAN to model the cross-modal joint distribution and to learn ...

Recent work around Modalys and Modal Synthesis

open access: yes, 1997
The originality and flexibility of the physical modelling synthesizer Modalys is being continously validated by an ever-growing communityof users made up by composers, acousticians and musicologists alike. In this paper we will present the main lines that have oriented recent research around Modalys.

Convergence in Modal Synthesis

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1972
To accurately determine all of a system’s vibration modes with a frequency less than some frequency Ω, frequency those component modes with natural frequencies less than Ω or in the mathematical neighborhood of Ω need be included in the system equation-of-motion.

Efficient modal sound synthesis on GPUs

2014 IEEE VR Workshop: Sonic Interaction in Virtual Environments (SIVE), 2014
Modal sound synthesis is a useful method to interactively generate sounds for Virtual Environments. Forces acting on objects excite modes, which then have to be accumulated to generate the output sound. Due to the high audio sampling rate, algorithms using the CPU typically can handle only a few actively sounding objects. Additionally, force excitation

A Theory of Substructure Modal Synthesis

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1982
A theory is presented for representing the displacements of a substructure finite-element mathematical model with a reduced number of degrees of freedom. A first or second-order approximation is used for the substructure’s modal coordinates associated with significantly larger or smaller eigenvalues than the system eigenvalues of excitation.
