High-pulse-energy III-V-on-silicon-nitride mode-locked laser

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
Mode-locked lasers find their use in a large number of applications, for instance, in spectroscopic sensing, distance measurements, and optical communication. To enable widespread use of mode-locked lasers, their on-chip integration is desired. In recent

Passively Mode-Locked Raman Laser [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2010
We report on the observation of a novel mode locked optical comb generated at the Raman offset (Raman comb) in an optically pumped crystalline whispering gallery mode resonator. Mode locking is confirmed via measurement of the radio-frequency beat note produced by the optical comb on a fast photodiode.

Highly efficient mode-locked and Q-switched Er3+-doped fiber lasers using a gold nanorod saturable absorber

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Mode-locked and Q-switched pulsed fiber laser sources with wavelengths of 1.55 μm are widely used in various fields. Gold nanorods (GNRs) have been applied in biomedicine and optics owing to their biocompatibility, easy fabrication, and unique optical ...

Numerical simulation for generation of stable single mode-locked pulses from QML laser with EO modulator and V3+:YAG

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
The instability of mode-locked pulses underneath Q-switched envelop limits the applications of Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) lasers. In this paper we present a developed theoretical model for QML laser at 1.3 µm.

Highly stable MXene (V2CTx)-based harmonic pulse generation

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2020
MXene as a novel two-dimensional (2D) material exhibits a lot of advantages in nonlinear optics. However, the common MXene, Ti3C2Tx and Ti2CTx nanosheets, easily suffer from degradation under ambient conditions, greatly limiting their practical ...

Relative Intensity Noise of Hybrid Mode-Locked Bound Soliton Fiber Laser: Theory and Experiment

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Relative intensity noises (RIN) of mode-locked lasers are properties which are crucial for applications. In the literature, there have been plenty of theoretical/experimental studies on the RIN noises of passive/active single-pulse mode-locked lasers ...

Linearly Polarized 1180-nm Raman Fiber Laser Mode Locked by Graphene

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
In this paper, we demonstrate a linearly polarized 1180-nm passively mode-locked Raman fiber laser using graphene-based saturable absorber (SA). The pump source is a linearly polarized ytterbium-doped fiber laser at 1120 nm. Stable nanosecond mode-locked

Watt-Level Dual-Wavelength Q-Switched Mode-Locked All-Solid-State Tm:CYA Laser

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
A passively Q-switched mode-locked all-solid-state Tm:CaYAIO4 (Tm:CYA) laser with a MoS2 saturable absorber is demonstrated for the first time. Employing a typical X-type cavity and output coupling mirror of 9%, when the laser diode pump power is higher ...

Watt-Level Diode-End-Pumped Self-Mode-Locked Tm,Ho:LLF Laser

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
A diode-end-pumped self-mode-locked Tm,Ho:LuLiF4 (LLF) laser is demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. At the incident pump power of 3.4 W, the stable self-mode-locked operation of the Tm,Ho:LLF laser was realized without any ...

Iteratively seeded mode-locking

open access: yesOptics Express, 2017
Ultrashort pulsed mode-locked lasers enable research at new time-scales and revolutionary technologies from bioimaging to materials processing. In general, the performance of these lasers is determined by the degree to which the pulses of a particular resonator can be scaled in energy and pulse duration before destabilizing.
