Actively Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers
SPIE Proceedings, 1990We review recent investigation into the active mode-locking of rare earth doped silica, monomode fiber lasers. Dopants include Nd3+, Er3+ and Yb3+:Er3+ and mode-locking has been accomplished either by amplitude modulation or by phase modulation. Both bulk optic and integrated optic modulators have been used. Pulses of 4 psec duration have been observed

Mode-locked fiber lasers based on Tm-doped and Tm-Ho-codoped silicate fibers have been studied. The first modelocked fiber laser oscillator beyond 2 μm was demonstrated. The first mode-locked 2μm fiber laser with ~GHz repetition rate was demonstrated. The broadest spectrum (50nm FWHM) was obtained from dispersion managed 2μm mode-locked fiber laser.

Bidirectional mode-locked thulium-doped fiber laser
Applied Optics, 2018We report a bidirectional mode-locked thulium-doped fiber laser. Mode-locking is enabled by the combination of semiconductor saturable absorption and nonlinear polarization rotation. Two stable mode-locked picosecond pulse trains in opposite directions are generated with a fundamental repetition rate of ∼16.57 MHz.

Actively mode-locked visible upconversion fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2000Active mode locking of a Pr(3+)/Yb (3+) -doped upconversion fluoride fiber laser with an all-fiber ZnO acousto-optic phase modulator is demonstrated for the first time to the authors' knowledge. Optical pulses of ~550-ps duration with a repetition rate of 239 MHz at a wavelength of 635 nm have been generated.

High-sensitivity mode-locked fiber laser gyroscope
Optics Letters, 1997We report significant performance improvement of a mode-locked fiber laser gyroscope. A Fabry-Perot cavity GaAlAs laser diode whose front facet was antireflection coated was used as a gain medium. The rms noise equivalent rotation rate measured with a time-interval counter was improved to 0.06deg/ radicalh.

Mode-locked Yb-doped Bragg fiber laser
Optics Letters, 2009We report on a mode-locked fiber laser featuring an Yb-doped large-mode-area Bragg fiber and exploiting dissipative-soliton pulse shaping. Reliable self-starting mode-locking is achieved using a fast semiconductor saturable absorber mirror. The laser generates 30 nJ chirped pulses at 17 MHz repetition rate for an average power of 510 mW.

Mode-locked fiber lasers based on doped fiber arrays
Applied Optics, 2014We designed a new kind of mode-locked fiber laser based on fiber arrays, where the central core is doped. A theoretical model is given for an all-fiber self-starting mode-locked laser based on this kind of doped fiber array. Two different kinds of fiber lasers with negative dispersion and positive dispersion are simulated and discussed. The stable mode-

Soliton mode-locked fiber laser for distance measurements
Applied Optics, 2021Absolute distance measurement is crucial for many applications including metrology, large-scale manufacturing, range finding, and surveying. In this paper, a novel, to the best of our knowledge, technique is introduced for precise distance measurement by including the distance under measurement in a soliton mode-locked fiber ring laser (SMFRL ...

Mode-locked Bi-doped fiber laser
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2007Mode locking is obtained for what we believe to be the first time in a Bi-doped fiber laser. Stable 50 ps laser pulses with a pulse repetition rate of 13 MHz are generated at a wavelength of 1161.6 nm with a 2 mW average power.
