Passively mode-locked diode-pumped surface-emitting semiconductor laser
A surface-emitting semiconductor laser has been passively mode locked in an external cavity incorporating a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror. The gain medium consists of a stack of 12 InGaAs-GaAs strained quantum wells, grown above a Bragg mirror ...

From Rigid to Soft Robotic Approaches for Neuroendoscopy
Robotic assistance has had minimal impact on deep intraventricular surgeries, where small‐scale, precision, and reduced invasiveness can contribute to improved patient outcomes. Emerging technologies in rigid, soft, and hybrid robotics are reviewed to identify the most promising mechanisms for deep brain navigation in addition to an attempt to identify

Graphene-enabled sub-picosecond solitons in mode-locked mid-infrared fluoride fiber lasers [PDF]
We report on sub-picosecond pulses generation from mode-locked erbium-doped-fiber lasers operating at 2.8 µm and 3.5 µm using graphene-based saturable absorbers. The lasers produce stable 600 fs pulses at 2.8 µm and 700 fs at 3.5 µm.

L-band Wavelength-Switchable Dissipative Soliton Resonance Er-doped Fiber Laser
The experiment reports a kind of L-band dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) nanosecond Er-doped fiber laser. The passive mode-locked L-band DSR pulse is achieved in a figure-eight structure by using the nonlinear-amplifying-loop-mirror (NALM).

Multiple Bound State Soliton Pulses in the All Polarization Maintaining Fiber Laser
The bound state soliton pulse, a novel mode-locked output state of fiber lasers, has been studied extensively to gain a better understanding of soliton interactions and to explain the mechanism behind the generation of mode-locked pulses.
