Parametric mode locking

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1992
The conditions under which a synchronously pumped intracavity parameter generation causes mode locking in a homogeneously broadened laser are investigated experimentally and theoretically. An expression for the steady-state duration of parametric mode-locked pulses is derived and compared with experimental results. Contributions from both parametric AM

Using n- and p-Type Bi2Te3 Topological Insulator Nanoparticles To Enable Controlled Femtosecond Mode-Locking of Fiber Lasers

, 2015
Mechanically triturated n- and p-type Bi2Te3 nanoparticles, the nanoscale topological insulators (TIs), are employed as nonlinear saturable absorbers to passively mode-lock the erbium-doped fiber lasers (EDFLs) for sub-400 fs pulse generations.

Passive Q-switching and Q-switched mode-locking operations of 2 μm Tm:CLNGG laser with MoS 2 saturable absorber mirror

, 2015
With MoS2 as saturable absorber, passive Q-switching and Q-switched mode-locking operations of a Tm-doped calcium lithium niobium gallium garnet (Tm:CLNGG) laser were experimentally demonstrated.

Mode locking in solitary lasers

Optics Letters, 1991
We present an analysis of passively mode-locked lasers in which pulse formation is dominated by the interplay between self-phase modulation and negative dispersion in separate cavity elements. Steady-state pulse parameters and stability issues are discussed.

Mode locking the cell cycle

Physical Review E, 2005
A characteristic property of nonlinear oscillatory systems is their ability to mode lock to a periodic, external, driving signal. In an n:m mode-locked state, the driven system executes n oscillations to every m oscillations of the driving signal, with a constant phase relationship between the two oscillations.

Mode locked semiconductor lasers

Proceedings of LEOS '93, 1991
Mode locked lasers are a compact, inexpensive source of optical pulses. Currently, some problems with semiconductor sources are low output power, self phase modulation, secondary pulse formation, and timing jitter. These problems are addressed here. >

AlGaInAs mode-locked lasers for ultrashort pulse harmonic mode locking

2011 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2011
Monolithic AlInGaAs compound-cavity lasers for harmonic ML at multi-GHz frequencies have been fabricated and assessed. Optical pulses of ∶ 1 ps long at 160 GHz have been obtained. The optimal cavity and reflector design has been investigated experimentally and theoretically.

An automatic mode-locked system for passively mode-locked fiber laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
This paper designs and implements one kind of automatic mode-locked system. It can adjust a passively mode-locked fiber laser to keep steady mode-locked states automatically. So the unsteadiness of traditional passively mode-locked fiber laser can be avoided.

Mechanism of harmonic mode locking of the regeneratively mode-locked laser diode

2004 IEEE 19th International Semiconductor Laser Conference, 2004. Conference Digest., 2005
It was found that the harmonic frequency optical injection locking of the regeneratively mode-locked laser diode occurs through the difference frequency component generation. Synchronization with up to 320-GHz input was also confirmed.
