80-channel WDM-MDM communication link utilizing a Photonic Crystal Resonator and Inverse-Designed Mode-Division Multiplexers

We demonstrate a 80-channel communication link with >150 Gbps error-free data transmission utilizing Photonic Crystal Resonator (PhCR) with normal dispersion as a comb source. We utilize a 4-channel inverse-designed mode-division multiplexer to increase data rates.

Side-tap modal channel monitor for mode division multiplexed (MDM) systems

We demonstrate a sidetap modal channel monitor based on a tilted Bragg grating, where different modes radiate at different angles. We qualitatively correlate the observed modal power partitioning with more accurate interferometer-based measurements.

Mode division multiplexed (MDM) waveguide link scheme with cascaded Y-junctions

Abstract A potentially high throughput waveguide mode multiplexer/demultiplexer (MUX/DEMUX) exemplified by two cascaded Y-junctions is shown to be capable of efficiently transforming modes from single mode waveguides into a two-dimensional set of the orthogonal ones in a multi-mode waveguide, and back.
