Transcendental Method in Action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Lonergan’s treatment of transcendental method in the first chapter of \u3cMethod in Theology\u3e presents a bit of a puzzle. Something about heightening consciousness at the level of experience is different from the reflexive operations by which we ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Wake Structures and Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Flows around Two Near-Wall Cylinders in Tandem and Parallel Arrangements

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
To clarify the hydrodynamic interference characteristics of flows around multiple cylinders under the wall effect, the two-dimensional (2D) flows around the near-wall single, two tandem and parallel cylinders are simulated under different gap ratios (0 ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

I-mode plasma confinement improvement by real-time lithium injection and its classification on EAST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
I-mode is a promising regime for future fusion reactors due to the high energy confinement and the moderate particle confinement. However, the effect of lithium, which has been widely applied for particle recycling and impurity control, on I-mode plasma ...

Mixed-Mode I/II Fracture

open access: yes
AbstractAs the inherent nature of rocks, natural cracks play a remarkable part in controlling the mechanics and permeability responses in rock masses. Due to the intense stress concentration at their neighborhoods, these cracks are extensively recognized as the initial locations for the initiation, extension, and convergence of cracking.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Study on the Selection of Takeaway Operating Modes from a Restaurant Perspective

open access: yesSystems
There are three operational modes for restaurant takeaway services: a takeaway platform combined with restaurant delivery (mode A), a takeaway platform paired with platform delivery (mode B), and a self-established platform with delivery (mode C). In the
