Investigation of LHCD capabilities in I-mode plasma on EAST tokamak
Improved energy confinement mode (I-mode) regime offers promising confinement characteristics with temperature pedestal and low-confinement mode (L-mode) like particle transport.

Embedded discontinuities for 3D mode-I and mode-II failure modelling
The incorporation of displacement discontinuities in finite elements is examined. The incorporation of displacement discontinuities allows the use of discrete constitutive models in a continuum framework in order to avoid the mesh sensitivity of ...

Constraining the p-Mode–g-Mode Tidal Instability with GW170817
We analyze the impact of a proposed tidal instability coupling p modes and g modes within neutron stars on GW170817. This nonresonant instability transfers energy from the orbit of the binary to internal modes of the stars, accelerating the gravitational-wave driven inspiral.

Measuring nonclasicality of single-mode systems
A beam splitter can generate entanglement if the input field is nonclassical, e.g. squeezed. Thus, beam splitter transformation can be utilized for obtaining single-mode nonclassicality conditions from two-mode entanglement criteria. Here, we demonstrate

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Mode I and Mode II Fracture Toughness of Fe-based Amorphous Materials: Theoretical and Empirical Investigations [PDF]
This study investigates a diagonally loaded square plate specimen's fracture toughness. The specimen has central pre-crakes under loading modes I and II. Iron-based amorphous material with high strain-hardness (200 to 500 MPa) and malleability (10% to 50%

An extended mode-matching model for improved relative permittivity measurements using a split-cylinder resonator [PDF]
In this paper we present an extended mode-matching model for a split-cylinder resonator involving TE and TM resonant modes. The new model enhances the known TE0np mode-matching model by improving mode identification and distortion analysis and providing ...

Uncertainties in the Determination of $|V_{cb}|$ [PDF]
I discuss the theoretical uncertainties in the extraction of $|\,V_{cb}|$ from semilep\-to\-nic decays of $B$ mesons, taking into account the most recent theoretical developments.

Delocalization and spreading in a nonlinear Stark ladder
We study the evolution of a wave packet in a nonlinear Schr\"odinger lattice equation subject to a dc bias. In the absence of nonlinearity all normal modes are spatially localized giving rise to a Stark ladder with an equidistant eigenvalue spectrum and ...
