Si‐Doped Nanocrystalline Diamond as Highly Sensitive Luminescence Thermometer for the Physiological Temperature Range

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, diamonds with negative charged silicon‐vacancy (SiV−) centers have been designed for use as thermometers in biomedical applications. Multiparametric analysis of the emission characteristics of the SiV− centers provides extraordinary sensitivity for temperature detection in the physiological temperature range.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

Three-dimensional adiabatic mode parabolic equation method and its applications

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2016
Complex zone of the ocean is often characterized by horizontal variations of environmental parameters(bathymetry, sound speed profile, bottom properties etc.), initiating redistribution of the sound field in horizontal plane, which is the so-called three-dimensional (3D) effect.

Stability of Medicinal Nanoemulsions to Spaceflight: Insights From the StarMed Experiment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chitosan‐coated melatonin nanoemulsions (MN) recovered from a sounding rocket mission preserve droplet size and controlled‐release behavior, whereas uncoated nanoemulsions show ageing‐driven droplet growth and increased accessible drug fraction. Simple polymer coatings thus enhance the flight resilience of liquid space medicines under cumulative launch

Analysis of the unstable Tollmien–Schlichting mode on bodies with a rounded leading edge using the parabolized stability equation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2009
The interaction between free-stream disturbances and the boundary layer on a body with a rounded leading edge is considered in this paper. A method which incorporates calculations using the parabolized stability equation in the Orr–Sommerfeld region, along with an upstream boundary condition derived from asymptotic theory in the vicinity of the leading

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.

Sliding mode control to stabilization of coupled time fractional parabolic PDEs subject to disturbances

open access: yesIET Control Theory & Applications
In this article, the stabilization of coupled time fractional parabolic partial differential equations subject to external disturbances is investigated. By using sliding mode control method and backstepping approach, a boundary state feedback controller ...

Gate‐Tunable Floquet Weyl Photon Emission from Topological Dirac Semimetal Cd3As2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report experimental demonstration of Floquet band engineering in a 3D Dirac semimetal. Circularly polarized light breaks the time reversal symmetry and transforms Cd3As2 into a Floquet–Weyl phase, splitting Dirac nodes into chirality‐opposite Weyl nodes with nonzero Berry curvature.

Design, Construction and Validation of Internally-Lit Air Lift Photobioreactor for Growing Algae

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2015
A novel 28 L photobioreactor for growing algae was developed from a previous bubble column system. The proposed design uses the air lift principle to enhance the culture circulation and induce light/dark cycles to the microorganisms.
