Venetoclax‐Based Therapy as a Bridge to Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Relapsed or Refractory Pediatric Acute Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Relapsed and/or refractory (R/R) pediatric acute leukemia carries a dismal prognosis, largely driven by chemoresistance to conventional salvage therapy. The BH3‐mimetic venetoclax, combined with chemotherapy or hypomethylating agents, has demonstrated efficacy in small clinical trials.

Language, Culture, and Cancer: Qualitative Insights Into Communication Disparities Among Spanish‐Speaking Caregivers of Children With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Latino children are projected to make up nearly one‐third of United States (US) children by 2060, and many of their caregivers speak Spanish. Prior survey research has documented communication difficulties for Spanish‐speaking caregivers of children with cancer, but contemporary qualitative data are limited.

An interpretable AI framework for clear-sky detection in photovoltaics monitoring

open access: yesEPJ Photovoltaics
Accurate clear-sky detection (CSD) is essential for reliable data analysis and performance assessments in photovoltaic (PV) systems. However, many advanced machine learning (ML) models function as “black boxes”, limiting their interpretability and ...

ML Interpretability: Simple Isn’t Easy

open access: yes
The interpretability of ML models is important, but it is not clear what it amounts to. So far, most philosophers have discussed the lack of interpretability of black-box models such as neural networks, and methods such as explainable AI that aim to make

Effectiveness of Resistance Intradialytic Exercise Compared to Aerobic Intradialytic Exercise for Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

Multi-Path Attention Fusion Transformer for Spectral Learning in Corn Quality Assessment

open access: yesFoods
Accurately modeling the nonlinear relationships between near-infrared (NIR) spectral signatures and biochemical traits in corn remains a major challenge. A key difficulty lies in capturing multi-scale contextual dependencies—ranging from local absorption

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...
