Feedforward model predictive control

Annual Reviews in Control, 2011
Abstract This paper examines the role played by feedforward in model predictive control (MPC). We contrast feedforward with preview action. The latter is standard in model predictive control, whereas feedforward has been rarely, if ever, used in contemporary formulations of MPC.

Hierarchical model predictive control

2007 46th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2007
This paper deals with the problem of designing stable hierarchical control schemes with Model Predictive Control (MPC). Specifically, at any layer of the considered structure, a robust MPC regulator is used to compute the control variables. In turn, these variables are produced by the subsystems at lower layers and must fulfill the robustness ...

NEURAL MODELS IN PREDICTIVE CONTROL

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1995
Abstract Model Based Predictive Control (MBPC) has not yet been widely used biotechnology, although in other areas successful application have been reported. This mainly because accurate nonlinear models are usually not available for biotechnological processes.

Model predictive contouring control

49th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2010
Biaxial contouring systems involve competing control objectives of maximising accuracy while minimising traversal time. In this paper, a model predictive controller for contouring systems is proposed where the control inputs are determined by minimising a cost function which reflects the trade-off between these competing objectives, subject to state ...

Decentralized Model Predictive Control

2010
Decentralized and distributed model predictive control (DMPC) addresses the problem of controlling a multivariable dynamical process, composed by several interacting subsystems and subject to constraints, in a computation and communication efficient way.

Fuzzy model predictive control

IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, 2000
A fuzzy model predictive control (FMPC) approach is introduced to design a control system for a highly nonlinear process. In this approach, a process system is described by a fuzzy convolution model that consists of a number of quasi-linear fuzzy implications.

Distributed model predictive control

Proceedings of the 2001 American Control Conference. (Cat. No.01CH37148), 2001
We explore a distributed model predictive control (DMPC) scheme. The controllers apply model predictive control (MPC) policies to their local subsystems. They exchange their predictions by communication and incorporate the information from other controllers into their local MPC problem so as to coordinate with each other.
