A special structure optimization model is presented which includes many of the single variable risk problems that are encountered in operational problems. A risk function is assumed which is a piece-wise linear function of some random variable whose distribution is known; one seeks the value of the decision variable which minimizes expected risk.

Annual Review of Financial Economics, 2009
This paper reviews the literature on credit risk models. Topics included are structural and reduced form models, incomplete information, credit derivatives, and default contagion. It is argued that reduced form models and not structural models are appropriate for the pricing and hedging of credit-risky securities.

Hydrocarbon leaks and subsequent fire and/or explosion are one of the main threats to offshore exploration and production/processing of hydrocarbon oil and gas. The chapter gives an overview of different fire types that may occur on offshore installations, as well as a brief introduction to the main characteristics of the main types of fire.

The most frequent collisions i.e., contacts between offshore supply vessels and the platform to which they are delivering supplies, generally cause only minor damage, although significant impacts have been reported in rare cases. Impact from external, non-platform related vessels is probably the most location dependent hazard.
