Application of optimal control theory for selective vibrational excitation in molecules modeled as harmonic physical systems

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1990
The design of optimal electromagnetic fields producing selective vibrational excitation in molecules modeled as harmonic physical systems is shown to be equivalent to minimizing a quadratic cost functional balancing the energy distribution in the molecule and the fluence of the input.

A decision-theory model of motivation and its usefulness in the diagnosis of management control systems

Accounting, Organizations and Society, 1991
Abstract In this paper rational decision theory is used to formulate a model of motivation in a managerial context. The model is shown to behave reasonably well in empirical tests, but no better than a directly-assessed measure of motivation, which is easier to use in field research.

Physical-Model-Based Wave Control in Metasurface-Programmable Complex Systems: Theory, Model Calibration, and Applications

2024 Eighteenth International Congress on Artificial Materials for Novel Wave Phenomena (Metamaterials)
I discuss our recent results on (i) various equivalent formulations of compact physics-compliant models of wave scattering in metasurface-programmable complex media in terms of coupled dipoles, scattering matrices or impedance matrices; (ii) how to estimate these models’ parameters in full-wave simulations or experimentally in frugal manners (e.g ...

Model and simulation of electric power exchange development in terms of control and system theory

2016 Electric Power Networks (EPNet), 2016
This work contains selected results of research on metamodeling identification of Polish Power Exchange (Towarowa Gielda Energii Elektrycznej — TGEE) obtained in the MATLAB environment using the System Identification Toolbox (SIT). In order to obtain a type arx parametric model of the system TGEE there was carried out an identification the various ...

Possibilities of Process Modeling in Pedagogical Cybernetics Based on Control-System-Theory Approaches

2017
This paper tries to extent the connection between the technical and pedagogical cybernetics. Particularly, the process-modeling possibilities from the control-system theory are applied to the pedagogical-research area in this paper. In the pedagogy, the cybernetics processes are not further mathematically modeled, because the classical approaches are ...

The Cloud Model Theory of Intelligent Control Method for Non-Minimum-Phase and Non-Self-Balancing System in Nuclear Power

Volume 1: Operations and Maintenance, Engineering, Modifications, Life Extension, Life Cycle, and Balance of Plant; Instrumentation and Control (I&C) and Influence of Human Factors; Innovative Nuclear Power Plant Design and SMRs, 2018
Steam generator (SG) is one of the key equipment of nuclear power units. Because of the large range of its loads changing, the water level control of SG effectively is an essential secure guarantee of nuclear power plants. SG is a complex system, besides imbalance and non-minimum phase characteristic, it also has the properties of nonlinearity, time ...
