A Step-by-Step Damage Identification Method Based on Frequency Response Function and Cross Signature Assurance Criterion

open access: yesSensors, 2021
This paper aims to present a method for quantitative damage identification of a simply supported beam, which integrates the frequency response function (FRF) and model updating.

An Information-Theoretic Foundation for the Weighted Updating Model

open access: yes, 2016
Weighted Updating generalizes Bayesian updating, allowing for biased beliefs by weighting the likelihood function and prior distribution with positive real exponents.

Finite element model updating of a RC building considering seismic response trends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The authors would like to thank their supporters. GeoNet staff, particularly Dr Jim Cousins, Dr S.R. Uma and Dr Ken Gledhill, helped with access to seismic data and building information.

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Development of a Baseline Digital Twin Model as a Prerequisite for the Digital Twin Definition of a PSC-I Bridge with Model Updating Considering Member Stiffness

open access: yesBuildings
Structural health monitoring using various sensors has been widely employed to assess the structural conditions of bridges. In addition, the concept of a digital twin was introduced, which encompasses the life cycle information of a bridge and its real ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Dynamic characterization of progressively damaged segmental masonry arches with one settled support: experimental and numerical analyses

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2020
This paper aims to explore the dynamic behavior of a segmental masonry arch subjected to increasing horizontal displacements of one support. To this end, output-only dynamic identification techniques are first used to track the evolution of the dynamic ...

Evaluation of Behavior of a Ball Joint System in a Double Layer Grid through Updating of its Natural Frequencies [PDF]

open access: yesمجله مدل سازی در مهندسی, 2010
Due to the some uncertainties during manufacture and assembly of double layer grids with ball joint system, the behavior of this jointing system in the structure is different from the behavior of individual and discrete joints.

Parallel updating cellular automaton models of driven diffusive Frenkel-Kontorova-type systems

open access: yes, 1998
Three cellular automaton (CA) models of increasing complexity are introduced to model driven diffusive systems related to the generalized Frenkel-Kontorova (FK) models recently proposed by Braun [Phys.Rev.E58, 1311 (1998)].
