Temporal patterns of instrumentation failures in atmospheric boundary layer observational systems [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
his study examines characteristic patterns associated with equipment failures in time series data from urban environmental monitoring systems. While prolonged data gaps represent the most apparent failure indicator, equipment malfunctions manifest ...

llc: a collection of R functions for fitting a class of Lee-Carter mortality models using iterative fitting algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We implement a specialised iterative regression methodology in R for the analysis of age-period mortality data based on a class of generalised Lee-Carter (LC) type modelling structures.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Investigation of Ti-Pt-V high temperature shape memory alloys towards aerospace applications: A cluster expansion screening [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
TiPt has a higher martensitic transformation above 1200 K, which makes it a good candidate for HTMSAs. However, TiPt exhibits C′ = -32GPa. A new class of Ti-Pt-V systems was predicted using cluster expansion.

Modelling spatial recall, mental imagery and neglect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present a computational model of the neural mechanisms in the pari-etal and temporal lobes that support spatial navigation, recall of scenes and imagery of the products of recall.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

An Audience Centred Approach to Business Process Reengineering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This paper describes a method for process modelling which is designed to provide guidance to the business process modeller. The method has evolved from our experience of attempting to apply software process modelling approaches to business processes.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A comparative analysis of business process modelling techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Business process modelling is an increasingly popular research area for both organisations and academia due to its usefulness in facilitating human understanding and communication.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
