Surface detail in computer models

Image and Vision Computing, 2007
Quantitative characterization of surface appearance is an important but difficult task. Surfaces of real world objects are detailed landscapes, with complex geometry and local optical properties. Surface appearance is strongly affected by the direction from which it is viewed and illuminated. Computational modeling of surface texture has potential uses

Simplified models for surface hyperchannelling

Radiation Effects, 1979
Abstract Experimental and detailed, three-dimensional computer simulation studies of the scattering of low energy argon ions incident at grazing angles onto a nickel single crystal have shown that under certain, well defined conditions, surface hyperchannelling dominates the reflection process.

Distortion Surface Model for Airfield Surface

2009 Second International Conference on Information and Computing Science, 2009
A distortion surface mode is set up for airfield; the designed surface altitude of surface grid point is deduced, it is a linear function. The surface fit all kinds of airfield earth shape. The model is compiled a computer program with ARX method in AUTOCAD environment.

Bistability in a surface-reaction model

Physical Review A, 1990
A kinetic surface-reaction model, based upon the reaction of carbon monoxide and oxygen on a catalyst surface, is presented. The equations governing the reaction are obtained. A bistability zone is found: One is a reactive stable state producing carbon dioxide, and in the other the catalyst is poisoned.

Bag model with diffuse surface

Physical Review C, 1986
The constraint of a sharp bag boundary in the bag model is relaxed in the present work. This has been achieved by replacing the square-well potential of the bag model by a smooth scalar potential and introducing a term similar to the bag pressure term. The constraint of the conservation of the energy-momentum tensor is used to obtain an expression for ...

Modeling and Visualizing Volumetric and Surface-on-Surface Data

1993
An introduction and overview of methods for modeling and visualizing trivariate data is presented. One variable is identified as being dependent on three other, independent variables. Data of this type arises often in practical problems of science and engineering The modeling portion is concerned with finding a mathematical relationship which ...

Modeling with multiresolution subdivision surfaces

ACM SIGGRAPH 2006 Courses on - SIGGRAPH '06, 2006
Subdivision surfaces and their multiresolution extensions are a powerful representation for surface modeling and design. In this chapter we survey a variety of subdivision-based modeling methods including multiresolution deformations, boolean operations, cut-and-paste editing of surfaces, defining free-form sharp features and adding topologically ...
