Adapting Species Risk Assessments to a Changing Climate: The Underestimated Vulnerability of Foundational Trees

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
Climate change is one of the top threats to biodiversity. However, many species risk assessment frameworks, including the globally authoritative International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, do not consistently and comprehensively incorporate loss of climatically suitable habitat into listing or threat categorization decisions.

ANÁLISE DO MODELO DIGITAL DE ALTURA DERIVADO DE PERFILAMENTO LIDAR EM RELEVO MONTANHOSO

open access: yesRevista Tamoios, 2020

Noninvasive assessment of corticosterone and triiodothyronine levels in the endangered Pyrenean Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus aquitanicus)

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 327, Issue 2, Page 183-195, October 2025.
Feathers are useful in the study of glucocorticoid and thyroid hormones in Pyrenean Capercaillies. Samples from the Northern Pyrenees and Pre‐Pyrenees contained lower corticosterone concentrations, and a negative correlation was found between corticosterone levels and the distance from cycling trails.

Using aerial thermography to map terrestrial thermal environments in unprecedented detail

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, Page 1688-1702, August 2025.
Abstract The accurate quantification of thermal environments is crucial for predicting the impacts of climate change across ecosystems. Two major obstacles exist in mapping biologically relevant thermal landscapes: (1) overcoming the mismatch between the scale at which environmental data are typically collected and the scale at which a particular ...

Digital soil mapping using multiple logistic regression on terrain parameters in southern Brazil Mapeamento digital de solos utilizando regressões logísticas múltiplas e parâmetros do terreno no sul do Brasil

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2006
Soil surveys are necessary sources of information for land use planning, but they are not always available. This study proposes the use of multiple logistic regressions on the prediction of occurrence of soil types based on reference areas.

Quantifying regulatory limits for multiple stressors in an open and transparent way

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Biodiversity is confronted globally by multiple stressors. Environmental policies must regulate these stressors to achieve targets, but how should that be done when the outcomes of limits on one stressor are contingent on other stressors, about which there is imperfect knowledge?

Understanding clerical decisions in granting social assistance: Insights from national social security officials in Brazil

open access: yesInternational Social Security Review, Volume 78, Issue 1, Page 29-56, January/March 2025.
Abstract Street‐level professionals, such as social workers, shape policy implementation by exerting discretion. However, it remains unclear how other street‐level bureaucrats (SLBs), who are not considered to hold a professional status and who perform highly regulated activities, can do the same. Even though the decision‐making leeway of these SLBs is
