Models in Population Genetics

1984
During the discussions at this meeting, it became evident that there was a profound misunderstanding on the part of some experimental and field workers in evolutionary ecology: firstly, as to what the conceptual bases of population genetics and evolutionary models are and, secondly, as to what kinds of conclusions can be drawn from such models ...

Genetic Selection Models

2003
Genetics is the study of heredity and variation among organisms. It is known that in all living organisms, reproduction involves the passing from one generation to the next a genetic code that determines all physical aspects of the offspring. This code is carried on chromosomes. Chromosomes are large molecules in living cells that carry the information

A model in mitochondrial genetics

Mathematical Biosciences, 1977
Abstract The cytoplasmically inherited petite mutations of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae result in its being unable to use oxygen because of the lack in the mitochondrial DNA rings of some genes which code for certain respiratory enzymes. A model is examined which predicts the probability of a normal colony arising from the mating of two petites.

Population Genetics Models

1977
Consider a population consisting of 2N genes at a single locus (N diploid individuals) which are either A or a, where N is fixed number.
