The Mixed Aggregate Preference Logit Model: A Machine Learning Approach to Modeling Unobserved Heterogeneity in Discrete Choice Analysis [PDF]
This paper introduces the Mixed Aggregate Preference Logit (MAPL, pronounced "maple'') model, a novel class of discrete choice models that leverages machine learning to model unobserved heterogeneity in discrete choice analysis. The traditional mixed logit model (also known as "random parameters logit'') parameterizes preference heterogeneity through ...

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

An Anisotropic Constitutive Relationship by a Series of 8 Chain Models [PDF]
Hyperelastic models have been widely used to model polymers and soft tissues. However, most hyperelastic models are phenomenological material models. Based on statistical mechanics and molecular chain configuration, 8 chain model or Arruda-Boyce model is a physical model which can be used to understand how microstructures of chains affect macroscopic ...

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Compressed models are NOT miniature versions of large models [PDF]
Large neural models are often compressed before deployment. Model compression is necessary for many practical reasons, such as inference latency, memory footprint, and energy consumption. Compressed models are assumed to be miniature versions of corresponding large neural models. However, we question this belief in our work.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.
