Carbon Dots: An Emerging Frontier for Green and Sustainable Civil Engineering Materials

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Traditional civil engineering materials (CE materials) are usually involved with high‐energy consumption during manufacturing, significant maintenance costs, and substantial environmental impacts throughout their life cycles. The progress of nanotechnology is catalyzing a green and sustainable transformation within the field.

Generalized Amit-Roginsky model from perturbations of 3D quantum gravity

open access: yesPhysical Review D
A generalized Amit-Roginsky vector model in flat space is obtained as the effective dynamics of pertubations around a classical solution of the Boulatov group field theory for 3D Euclidean quantum gravity, extended to include additional matter degrees of freedom.

Nanofiber PVA‐Based Membranes Incorporating Functionalized Spanish Broom Derivatives for Sustainable Water Purification

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study investigates Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) as a renewable source for electrospun composite membranes in sustainable water purification. MCC and biochar were functionalized with eco‐friendly precursors and nanomaterials (i.e., HNT, β‐CDs) to develop hybrid PVA nanofiber composites.

Strict renormalizability as a paradigm for fundamental physics

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
An important theoretical achievement of the last century was the realization that strict renormalizability can be a powerful criterion to select Lagrangians in the framework of perturbative quantum field theory.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Optoelectronic Properties of [(n‐/tert‐C4H9)S(CH3)2]PbI3

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Reaction of two isomers of butyldimethylsulfonium cation with PbI2 using solid‐state and solution methods yielded the corresponding organic/inorganic hybrid compounds with high humidity tolerance and 1D crystal structures of [n‐C4H9S(CH3)2]PbI3 and [tert‐C4H9S(CH3)2]PbI3.

Bounding field excursions along null geodesics with applications to cosmology

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Scalar fields in theories of gravity often inhabit a moduli space of vacua, and coherent spatial or temporal variations in their expectation values can produce measurable gravitational effects.

Dynamics in canonical models of loop quantum gravity

open access: yes, 2019
In this thesis we consider the problem of dynamics in canonical loop quantum gravity, primarily in the context of deparametrized models, in which a scalar field is taken as a physical time variable for the dynamics of the gravitational field. The dynamics of the quantum states of the gravitational field is then generated directly by a physical ...

Comparative Assessment and Benchmarking of Metaheuristic Algorithms for Dynamic Photovoltaic Array Reconfiguration Under Diverse Shading Environments

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, which are essential for renewable energy systems, are vulnerable to partial shading, resulting in considerable power losses and operational inefficiencies. The dynamic reconfiguration of PV arrays has become an effective strategy to mitigate these effects by adaptively modifying the array topology to ...

The recipe for the degrees of freedom.

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We consider the question of counting the degrees of freedom in theoretical models, with an emphasis on theories of fields and gravity. Among the possible approaches, the Hamiltonian formulation remains one of the most systematic and robust tools. However,
