MODFLOW/MT3DMS‐Based Reactive Multicomponent Transport Modeling

Groundwater, 2003
Abstract This paper presents a three‐dimensional, MODFLOW/MT3DMS‐based reactive multicomponent transport model for saturated porous media. Based on a split‐operator technique, the model, referred to as PHT3D, couples the transport simulator MT3DMS and the geochemical modeling code PHREEQC‐2.

Improved water table dynamics in MODFLOW

Groundwater, 2005
Abstract The standard formulation of a block‐centered finite‐difference model, such as MODFLOW, uses the center of the cell as the location of a cell node. Simulations of a dynamic water table can be improved if the node of a cell containing the water table is located at the water table rather than at the center of the cell.

Efficient Storage of Large MODFLOW Models

Groundwater, 2013
Abstract We present a methodology for storing the bulkier portions of a set of MODFLOW input and output files in a compressed binary format using the HDF5 library.

Predicting Collector Well Yields with MODFLOW

Groundwater, 2012
Groundwater flow models are commonly used to design new wells and wellfields. As the spatial scale of the problem is large and much local‐scale detail is not needed, modelers often utilize two‐dimensional (2D) or quasi three‐dimensional models based on the Dupuit‐Forchheimer assumption.

MODFLOW‐Style Parameters in Underdetermined Parameter Estimation

Groundwater, 2011
In this article, we discuss the use of MODFLOW‐Style parameters in the numerical codes MODFLOW_2005 and MODFLOW_2005‐Adjoint for the definition of variables in the Layer Property Flow package. Parameters are a useful tool to represent aquifer properties

MODFLOW‐NWT: Robust Handling of Dry Cells Using a Newton Formulation of MODFLOW‐2005

Groundwater, 2012
Introduction The first versions of the widely used groundwater flow model MODFLOW (McDonald and Harbaugh 1988) had a sure but inflexible way of handling unconfined finite-difference aquifer cells where the water table dropped below the bottom of the cell—these “dry cells” were turned inactive for the remainder of the simulation.

GIS-MODFLOW: Ein kleines OpenSource-Werkzeug zur Anbindung von GIS-Daten an MODFLOW

Grundwasser, 2013

Spatial Periodic Boundary Condition for MODFLOW

Groundwater, 2013
Abstract Small‐scale hyporheic zone ( HZ ) models often use a spatial periodic boundary ( SPB ) pair to simulate an infinite repetition of bedforms.
