Predicting Collector Well Yields with MODFLOW

Groundwater, 2012
Groundwater flow models are commonly used to design new wells and wellfields. As the spatial scale of the problem is large and much local‐scale detail is not needed, modelers often utilize two‐dimensional (2D) or quasi three‐dimensional models based on the Dupuit‐Forchheimer assumption.

A MODFLOW package to linearize stream depletion analysis

Journal of Hydrology, 2016
Summary The conventional numerical method is computationally intensive and prone to numerical noises for stream depletion analyses using MODFLOW. In this study, a new MODFLOW package has been developed to improve the computational efficiency and reduce the noises for each simulation.

SHYDG.FOR—Hydrograph Package for MODFLOW

Groundwater, 1993
AbstractSHYDG.FOR—Hydrograph Package for MODFLOW, was written for use with the USGS finite‐difference ground‐water flow model (MODFLOW). This program allows the user to specify a list of nodes where model generated heads are saved separately. The program was designed to assist in the calibration of ground‐water flow models by simplifying the process of

EVAPOTRANSPIRATION CONCEPTUALIZATION IN THE HSPF-MODFLOW INTEGRATED MODELS

Journal of the American Water Resources Association, 2005
In 1988, the Florida Institute of Phosphate Research (FIPR) funded a project to develop an advanced hydrologic model for shallow water table systems. The FIPR hydrologic model (FHM) was developed to provide an improved predictive capability of the interactions of surface water and ground water using its component models, HSPF and MODFLOW.

Development and application of the integrated SWAT–MODFLOW model

Journal of Hydrology, 2008
Summary This paper suggests a new approach for integrating the quasi-distributed watershed model, SWAT, with the fully-distributed ground-water model, MODFLOW. Since the SWAT model has semi-distributed features, its groundwater component does not consider distributed parameters such as hydraulic conductivity and storage coefficient.

Selecting MODFLOW Cell Sizes for Accurate Flow Fields

Groundwater, 2001
AbstractContaminant transport models often use a velocity field derived from a MODFLOW flow field. Consequently, the accuracy of MODFLOW in representing a ground water flow field determines in part the accuracy of the transport predictions, particularly when advective transport is dominant.

Parallelization of MODFLOW Using a GPU Library

Groundwater, 2013
AbstractA new method based on a graphics processing unit (GPU) library is proposed in the paper to parallelize MODFLOW. Two programs, GetAb_CG and CG_GPU, have been developed to reorganize the equations in MODFLOW and solve them with the GPU library. Experimental tests using the NVIDIA Tesla C1060 show that a 1.6‐ to 10.6‐fold speedup can be achieved ...

Comparison of abstraction scenarios simulated by SWAT and SWAT-MODFLOW

Hydrological Sciences Journal, 2019
In hydrological modelling of catchments, wherein streams are groundwater-fed, an accurate representation of groundwater processes and their interaction with surface water is crucial. With this purpose, a coupled model was recently developed linking SWAT (
