Analytical Modeling of Heat Transfer and Deformation Around a Circular Cavity in Elastic Ground

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 3624-3651, 10 June 2026.
ABSTRACT The subsurface is increasingly exploited to host energy, utilities, and infrastructure systems that interact with surrounding soils and rocks through their thermal and functional operation. Prominent examples are provided by energy geostructures, district heating networks, buried power cables, steam and water pipes, and underground nuclear ...

Investigating Hydrogel Structural Parameters in the Flory–Rehner Model Using Bayesian Optimization

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels exhibit tunable solvent absorption driven by environmental stimuli such as temperature, pH, and light. While prior work established connections between synthesis processes and swelling behavior of temperature‐responsive hydrogels, the current study bridges the internal structure and the temperature‐responsive swelling behavior. First,

Electromagnetic Quasinormal Modes: A Foundational Framework for Describing Fano Resonances of Extinction Spectra

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
An ab initio electromagnetic framework links quasinormal modes to Fano resonances in extinction spectra. Analytical expressions for the Fano asymmetry and intensity parameters are derived from overlap integrals, enabling rapid spectral reconstruction and physical interpretation.

Polaritonic Spectra of Optical Mie Voids

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Optical Mie voids have been shown to provide a versatile platform for polaritonic physics. Analytical and numerical analysis reveal how void resonances couple to excitonic media, enabling weak‐ and strong‐coupling regimes, polariton gaps, Q‐factor enhancement, and spatial mode localization.

Interaction of Structured Light With Nanostructured Matter

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Structured light–matter interactions at the nanoscale remain poorly understood. We reveal a symmetry‐matched mechanism governing orbital‐angular‐momentum‐dependent extinction in gold nanodisk oligomers. Tailored diffractive optical elements generate flower‐like beams whose rotational symmetry dictates absorption. Experiments and a semi‐analytical model

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 38, 11 May 2026.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Countable Basis for Free Electromagnetic Fields

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Polychromatic electromagnetic fields are expanded as integrals over monochromatic fields, such as plane waves, multipolar fields, or Bessel beams. However, monochromatic fields do not belong to the Hilbert space of free Maxwell fields, since their norms diverge.

Hybrid Microtubule–Solid‐State Nanopores for Single‐Molecule Analysis

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 406-413, May 2026.
Nanopores electrically detect molecules during translocation, but short passage times limit resolution. By anchoring a microtubule to a solid‐state nanopore, this hybrid system significantly prolongs DNA translocation while enabling simultaneous measurement of microtubule electrical properties, advancing nanoscale sensing and bioelectronic ...
