Palmitoylation of PSD‐95 Orchestrates Learning‐Dependent Metaplasticity in the Amygdala and Fear Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 52, 18 September 2026.
This study reveals that fear learning specifically triggers PICK1/DHHC2‐dependent palmitoylation of PSD‐95 in the lateral amygdala. Fear conditioning induces the dissociation of DHHC5 from PSD‐95 and the association of PSD‐95 with DHHC2. DHHC2‐mediated palmitoylation of PSD‐95 is required for synaptic transmission and underlies fear learning–induced ...

COVID‐19 Infection Is Associated With Higher Stress in Urban American Indian and Alaska Native Peoples: Results From a Cross‐Sectional Survey

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities experienced a disproportionate burden of COVID‐19, including among the highest rates of infection, hospitalization, and mortality in the United States. The pandemic also introduced widespread stressors, and elevated perceived stress is itself a risk factor for adverse physical ...

Effect of aesthetic crown lengthening on life quality and self‐esteem: 2‐year study

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, Volume 16, Issue 3, Page 703-711, September 2026.
Abstract Background A gummy smile can result from several factors, often leading to a disharmonious appearance and causing physical and psychological discomfort for the patient. This study aimed to evaluate changes in self‐esteem and quality of life for patients, as well as the recidivism rate, following aesthetic crown lengthening (ACL) surgery ...

Implant‐related orofacial pain managed with implant apicoectomy: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, Volume 16, Issue 3, Page 682-691, September 2026.
Abstract Background In recent years, the use of implants has emerged as a widely accepted method for the replacement of missing teeth. Although rare, chronic pain associated with implant placement has been reported in the literature. Conversely, apicoectomy, the removal of the apical portion has been integrated into the implantology field in cases with

Does Interoceptive Sensibility Mediate the Relationship Between Emotional Distress and Pain Severity? A Cross‐Sectional Study in Chronic Pain and Pain‐Free Individuals

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 8, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pain and emotion are strongly related, yet the mechanisms mediating their relationship remain unclear. Interoception, perceiving internal bodily signals, has been implicated in pain‐related and emotional processes. Altered interoception was demonstrated in chronic pain (CP) and mental health conditions.

The State of Shared Decision‐Making in Immune Thrombocytopenia: A Narrative Review and Health Care Provider Perspective

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Advances in the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) have broadened the landscape of treatment options for patients. Shared decision‐making, a collaborative process between a patient and their health care team, is encouraged for these patients. The ultimate goal of shared decision‐making is to personalize treatment to

Artificial intelligence driven diet‐intestinal microbiota‐host health integration: A four‐dimensional paradigm for advancing host wellness research

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
This graphical abstract presents a novel Diet‐Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐intestinal Microbiota–Host Health paradigm integrating microbiota‐centric pathways and an AI‐driven multi‐omics workflow. Diet shapes gut bacteria that regulate intestinal mucosal integrity, immune signaling, and gut–brain neurotransmitters to influence host health.
