This chapter presents a Design for Modularity technique — Modular Function Deployment. It is a systematic procedure consisting of five major steps. It starts with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) analysis to establish customer requirements and technical solutions with a special emphasis on modularity.

Modular acoustical panels have been used to construct noise control enclosures at least since the early 1950s. This paper presents examples of the early days of modular acoustical enclosures and illustrates the current state of the art where pre-engineered acoustical panels are used to construct acoustical environments for Music Practice, Broadcast ...

Modularizing and layering metamodels with the modular EMF designer
Proceedings of the 21st ACM/IEEE International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and Systems: Companion Proceedings, 2018Metamodels are used in model-driven engineering and model-driven software development to define domain specific languages. Over time, they tend to evolve and grow in complexity to encompass new features. If a modular approach is not taken into account and metamodels are extended intrusively, they can become difficult to maintain and to extend. With the

The modular design and thermal analysis of modularized APF
2018 IEEE 2nd International Electrical and Energy Conference (CIEEC), 2018The structure and thermal design are related to both the reliability and the power density of the modularized APF. It is very important for modularized APF. In this paper, the APF modular is designed to be drawer type based on the guarantee of heat dissipation. The structure and thermal design are accomplished.

Jede Programmiersprache unterstutzt bestimmte Vorgehensweisen beim Programmentwurf.

Modular design of SAR electronics
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1999To achieve a better balance between investment and return, the development of more generally applicable technologies (generic, modular, multi-functional) or the application of the proven off-the-shelf technologies are the key issues. Besides cost effective design and manufacturing, the competitiveness can be significantly improved with a wider ...

A Modular Feedback Keyboard Design
Computer Music Journal, 1990The modular feedback keyboard (MFK) design that we describe in this article was conceived and constructed at ACROE. It was first presented to the public on 17 October, 1989 in Grenoble at the opening celebration of our center's new studio. The system we present is the prototype of a more general device, and its construction is the result of research ...

This is a position paper. Although modular design is getting wide attention these days, most of the discussions and applications are focused on efficiency, cost reduction, etc., which has been regarded important in the traditional product development or in the producer’s framework.

A modular approach to the design of accelerators is presented. A 30-inch AVF cyclotron has been built on this approach where all major assemblies are self-contained modules. Each unit, such as the magnet, RF system, vacuum system, ion source, and extraction system, was independently assembled, operated, and tested.
