DDDoolz: designing with modular masses
Design Studies, 20023D modelling in the inception phase of architectural design is typically not supported in CAD. Moreover 3D modelling is still far from intuitive with the common interface techniques. This paper introduces a 3D modelling tool for architects, named DDDoolz, which is limited in its purposes but yet very powerful in its use.

When a beginning programmer writes a program, there is one goal: the program must work correctly. However, correctness is only a part of what makes a program good. Another, equally important, part is that the program be maintainable. This chapter discusses the characteristics of well-designed software and introduces several design rules that facilitate

Modular design for quality and cost
2012 IEEE International Systems Conference SysCon 2012, 2012The purpose of this article is to help managers in early design of new product families. The proposal includes a single level module design formulation that considers quality and cost simultaneously. The method for testing the proposed algorithm is based on a case study of an electro-mechanical assembly device.

Flexible and Modular Cell Design
2000The evolution of manufacturing from stand-alone automation to computer-integrated manufacturing has occurred since the 1960s. During the 1960s, stand-alone automation received the most attention. This type of automation, also known as point automation, consists of workstations that may vary from one numerically controlled machine to a number of ...

A Modular Approach to Protein Design.
1990Abstract : We have taken a modular approach to study peptide interactions with proteins as a model for protein-protein interactions. Two basic approaches were applied to this problem, and peptides were designed to bind either a specific sequence of double stranded DNA or the PP56lck tyrosine protein kinase. This protein kinase likely is the cytoplasmic
