Modularized Extracellular Vesicles: The Dawn of Prospective Personalized and Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2018
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are ubiquitous nanosized membrane vesicles consisting of a lipid bilayer enclosing proteins and nucleic acids, which are active in intercellular communications.

KDAC6 alters cell morphology and motility through positive and negative modulation of F‐actin distribution

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KDAC6 has been associated with cell motility and actin structures, but specific domain contributions are not established. The two catalytic domains have differential effects on motility and F‐actin regulation, affecting cortical F‐actin density, motility, stress fibers, and cell spreading.

The impact of modular product design on innovation compared with design from first principles

open access: yes, 2010
The research looks at whether modular design methods can compromise innovation when compared with design from first principles. The questions that the authors investigated were: to what extent does modular product design restrict innovation in design? Is

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Environmental performance driven optimization of urban modular housing layout in Singapore

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering
With the growing size of cities and the need to renew residential areas, architects are calling for more efficient use of already settled areas. This paper presents a performance-driven architectural design (PDAD) workflow for shape generation and ...

From patient advocacy to patient‐driven research: Building active partnerships beginning at the bench to reach the bedside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Research is strongest when conducted alongside patients, not just about them. Patient research organizations help integrate patient perspectives into research priorities, study design, and scientific meetings, leading to meaningful patient outcomes and development of relevant therapies.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Threonine 348 regulates the subcellular localization of PTEN

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Thr348 in the C2 domain is a key contributor to PTEN subcellular localization. The PTEN350 fragment and PTENA4 accumulated in the nucleus, whereas PTENK13R,A4 predominantly localized to the plasma membrane. In contrast, substitution of Thr348 with Asp (T348D) disrupted these characteristic localization patterns, resulting in predominant cytoplasmic ...
