Modularizing and layering metamodels with the modular EMF designer
Proceedings of the 21st ACM/IEEE International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and Systems: Companion Proceedings, 2018Metamodels are used in model-driven engineering and model-driven software development to define domain specific languages. Over time, they tend to evolve and grow in complexity to encompass new features. If a modular approach is not taken into account and metamodels are extended intrusively, they can become difficult to maintain and to extend. With the

This chapter presents a three-phase methodology, which is proposed for the development of complex products using the modularity concept. The proposed methodology matches the criteria set by the design for functionality, assembly, and manufacture. A detailed discussion of needs analysis, quality function deployment, product requirement analysis, product/

Design of Modular Rendering Pipeline
7th IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (CIT 2007), 2007From the user's point-of-view, current graphics systems have a limited modularity of rendering pipelines. Users cannot assemble a custom rendering algorithm. In this paper, we propose a modular component based rendering pipeline with concepts of visual programming. We briefly define a general module-based architecture for visual programming in graphics

Design of modular workhandling systems
Microprocessors and Microsystems, 1984Abstract The mechanical structure and control system architecture for pneumomechanical single-axis modular units are described. The units were designed as subsystems to allow the construction of robots with kinematics suitable for a wide range of workhandling tasks.

Localized verification of modular designs
Formal Methods in System Design, 1995This paper describes a verification technique that 1) enables a designer to verify properties of a partial design where some parts have not yet been completed, 2) yields a number of verification conditions growing linearly with the size of the design description.

Design of a modular snake robot
2007 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2007Many factors such as size, power, and weight constrain the design of modular snake robots. Meeting these constraints requires implementing a complex mechanical and electrical architecture. Here we present our solution, which involves the construction of sixteen aluminum modules and creation of the Super Servo, a modified hobby servo.

Modularity in the design and implementation of Consul
Proceedings ISAD 93: International Symposium on Autonomous Decentralized Systems, 2002Consul is a system designed to support the use of fault-tolerance techniques in the construction of fault-tolerant distributed systems structured according to the state machine approach. The way in which modularity has been used in the design and implementation of Consul is described.

This chapter presents a Design for Modularity technique — Modular Function Deployment. It is a systematic procedure consisting of five major steps. It starts with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) analysis to establish customer requirements and technical solutions with a special emphasis on modularity.

Modular Asynchronous Control Design
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1977A modular design strategy for the implementation of control logic is discussed. After discussing several basic control modules, the overall design of control sequencing is described and a particular control sequence taken from the Illiac III computer is worked as an example of the technique.
