Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Cationic vacancies as defects in honeycomb lattices with modular symmetries

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Layered materials tend to exhibit intriguing crystalline symmetries and topological characteristics based on their two dimensional (2D) geometries and defects. We consider the diffusion dynamics of positively charged ions (cations) localized in honeycomb

Jacobi identities, modular lattices, and modular towers

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2004
There are proved generalized Jacobi identities related to odd diagonal lattices. Particular cases of lattices give some known Jacobi identities. In [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 355, 1005--1520 (2003; Zbl 1021.11036)] the Jacobi identities were used to derive quadratic iteration that generalize the AGM iteration in the classical case.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Matching in modular lattices

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series A, 1982
AbstractLet L be a finite lattice. A map f of the join irreducible elements of L to the meet irreducible elements of L is called a matching of L if f is one-to-one and x⩽f(x) for each join irreducible x. We investigate this conjecture: every finite modular lattice has a matching. The conjecture is verified for certain classes of modular lattices.

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐
