Reliability-oriented switching frequency analysis for Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC)

In this paper, reliability-oriented switching frequency analysis for Modular Multilevel Converter is investigated. In the medium voltage and high voltage direct current applications, the switching frequency should be low enough to avoid the converter from high switching power losses.

An improved circuit topology of modular multilevel converter (MMC) for DC to AC applications

This paper proposes a new circuit topology of MMC for DC to AC applications. The main advantage of the proposed topology is the elimination of lower arms of conventional MMC. Additionally, the DC bus voltage magnitude is half compared to conventional MMC. This is achieved by replacing the lower arms of conventional MMC topology with LC filter.

This paper proposes a novel space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique to address the capacitor voltage balancing issue in MMCs. The MMC topology consists of cascade connected identical and individual controllable submodules (SMs) to generate higher level output voltages.
