An Improved Phasor Method for Modelling and Analysis of Modular Multilevel Matrix Converter
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2021modular multilevel matrix converter (M3C) has considerable application potential in motor driving and power systems, but its phasor model is rarely studied. This paper proposes a novel method for modelling and analysis of the M3C in the phasor domain. Firstly, an improved phasor method in matrix form is proposed for direct AC/AC MMC family.

Modular multilevel matrix converter for low frequency AC transmission
2013 IEEE 10th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems (PEDS), 2013The modular multilevel matrix converter (MMMxC) applied to a low frequency ac (LFAC) transmission system is investigated. The LFAC (1 Hz ~ 20 Hz) has some advantages compared to conventional ac and dc transmission systems, such as the increase of current-carrying capacity of power cables due to reduction of capacitive charging current, and better fault

Arm Inductance Quantification for Y-Matrix Modulated Modular Multilevel Converter
2020 IEEE 9th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC2020-ECCE Asia), 2020Y-Matrix Modulated (YMM) Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) was proposed recently. This modulation utilizes the self-voltage balancing capability of an MMC so that the conventional voltage balancing algorithm of MMC can be eliminated. YMM demonstrates that MMC has inherent self-voltage balancing capability.

Integrated current-energy modeling and control for modular multilevel matrix converter
2015 17th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'15 ECCE-Europe), 2015This paper presents a layered and structured analytical method to develop the state-space model of a modular multilevel matrix converter (M3C) system. This method firstly divides the modeling task into the current modeling layer and the energy modeling layer and then decomposes each layer to the corresponding terminal and internal dynamics.

Control of modular multilevel matrix converters based on capacitor voltage estimation
2016 IEEE 8th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC-ECCE Asia), 2016In this paper, a control method based on capacitor voltage estimation is applied to the modular multilevel matrix converter topology. By using such control method, capacitor voltage measurement is not needed in the high-level control. A state-space model of the converter and the control method is developed.
