Scalar modulation control technique for modular multilevel matrix converter

2013 14th International Conference of Young Specialists on Micro/Nanotechnologies and Electron Devices, 2013
This article verifies the Scalar Modulation Control Strategy adopted for Modular Multilevel MC with several switching cells per branch. The output voltage generation techniques are observed and possible Control Scheme is presented. Also the simulation results for one, two, three and four switching cells per branch configurations are given and discussed.

Analysis and Control of Modular Multilevel Matrix Converters under Branch Fault Conditions

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2021
The modular multilevel matrix converter (M3C) is a promising topology for high-voltage and high-power direct ac-to-ac power conversion applications. Fault tolerance ability is one of the advantages of the M3C. To further enhance the reliability of the M3C, this article proposes a novel branch current configuration method for branch fault conditions ...

Control of modular multilevel matrix converters based on capacitor voltage estimation

2016 IEEE 8th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC-ECCE Asia), 2016
In this paper, a control method based on capacitor voltage estimation is applied to the modular multilevel matrix converter topology. By using such control method, capacitor voltage measurement is not needed in the high-level control. A state-space model of the converter and the control method is developed.

Integrated current-energy modeling and control for modular multilevel matrix converter

2015 17th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'15 ECCE-Europe), 2015
This paper presents a layered and structured analytical method to develop the state-space model of a modular multilevel matrix converter (M3C) system. This method firstly divides the modeling task into the current modeling layer and the energy modeling layer and then decomposes each layer to the corresponding terminal and internal dynamics.

Current control and branch energy balancing of the Modular Multilevel Matrix Converter

2015 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2015
This paper presents an alternative approach for analysing and controlling the Modular Multilevel Matrix Converter. After a system description, the proposed current control and branch energy balancing methods are introduced. As distinguished from previous approaches, the presented method is more general and easier applicable to other modular topologies.
