Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Exploring type-I seesaw under S 3 modular symmetry [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
This work’s novelty lies in using the simplest group i.e. Γ(2) ≃ S 3 modular symmetry implemented on the canonical seesaw to explain neutrino phenomenology.

Modular representations of metabelian groups [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1972
The irreducible modular representations, the blocks, and the defect groups of finite metabelian groups are determined. Also the dimensions of the principal indecomposable modules are computed.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Quark masses and CKM hierarchies from $$S_4'$$ S 4 ′ modular flavor symmetry

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
We propose models to explain the hierarchies of the quark masses and mixing by utilizing the $$S_4^\prime $$ S 4 ′ modular flavor symmetry. The hierarchy is realized by the modulus $$\tau $$ τ stabilized at $$\textrm{Im}\,\tau \gg 1$$ Im τ ≫ 1 , where ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
