Two-dimensional modulation codes
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1992A new class of run-length-limited codes in introduced. These codes are called two-dimensional or multitrack modulation codes. Two-dimensional modulation codes provide substantial data storage density increases for multitrack recording systems by operating on multiple tracks in parallel. Procedures for computing the capacity of these new codes are given

Combination of block-coded modulation and trellis-coded modulation
IEE Proceedings I Communications, Speech and Vision, 1991It is known that trellis-coded modulation (TCM) can give a significant coding gain without compromising bandwidth efficiency, by the concepts of signal set partition and trellis coding scheme. It is also known that block-coded modulation (BCM) can be used to approach closely the maximum energy saving that can be obtained by using the densest lattice ...

Adaptive Modulation and Coding Schemes Based on LDPC Codes with Irregular Modulation
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2010In this paper we propose an adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) scheme which uses only a single low-density parity-check (LDPC) encoder/decoder with irregular modulation. Two Gray-mapped quadrature-amplitude modulations are employed within a codeword so that the transmission rates of the proposed AMC can be controlled even though the rate of the ...

Noncoherent-coded modulation constructed from conventional trellis-coded modulation
IEEE Communications Letters, 1998We propose a method to construct noncoherent-coded modulation (NCM) by modifying the conventional trellis-coded modulation (TCM) as proposed by Ungerboeck (1982). The error performance of the modified TCM using noncoherent decoding can approach that of the conventional TCM using coherent decoding for additive white Gaussian noise.

A noncoherent coded modulation for 16QAM
MILCOM 1999. IEEE Military Communications. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36341), 1999Summary: We present a noncoherent coded 16QAM (NC-16QAM) scheme by modifying the trellis-coded 16QAM (TC-16QAM) scheme. Our simulation results show that the performance of the NC-16QAM with noncoherent detection is close to the one of the original TC-16QAM with coherent detection.

Coded Modulation Using Superimposed Binary Codes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2004In this correspondence, we investigate in a comprehensive fashion a one-layer coding/shaping scheme resembling a perfectly cooperated multiple-access system. At the transmitter, binary data are encoded by either single-level or multilevel codes. The coded bits are first randomly interleaved and then entered into a signal mapper.

Polar Coding for Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2016A polar coding scheme is proposed for reliable communication over channels with bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM). In an ideal information-theoretic model, BICM schemes are modeled as a set of multiple binary-input channels that experience different reliabilities. This model is referred to as multichannel . The conventional scheme for encoding

Adaptive coded modulation based on LDPC codes
2015 10th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (ChinaCom), 2015In order to resolve the problem of limited spectrum resources and low spectrum utilization rate, we adopted adaptive coded modulation technology based on LDPC codes. We used PEG method to construct the LDPC check matrix and B-P algorithm to decode. In addition, we used the adaptive algorithm based on reliability. We got the modulation and coding scheme

Modulation and coding for ATSC 3.0
2015 IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting, 2015In this paper we summarize and expound upon the choices made for the BICM (Bit-Interleaved and Coded Modulation) part of the next-generation terrestrial broadcast standard known as ATSC 3.0. The structure of the ATSC 3.0 BICM consists of a forward error correcting (FEC) code, bit interleaver and constellation mapper. In order to achieve high efficiency

Coded modulation with convolutional codes over rings
1991The objective of this work is to present a multilevel convolutional coding method based on rings of integers modulo-m (generally m is a power of 2) which is suitable for Coded Modulation schemes. This new method of coded modulation is proposed because of the similarities between an m-ary phase shift keying modulation and the structure of a ring of ...
