InP Mach-Zehnder Modulators for Advanced Modulation Formats
Integrated Photonics and Nanophotonics Research and Applications, 2008We have developed InP-based Mach-Zehnder modulators suitable for advanced modulation formats using a novel waveguide structure. We confirmed 40-Gbit/s NRZ signal generation and a 220-km 10 Gbit/s optical duobinary transmission. We also demonstrated a DQPSK modulator operating at 80 Gbit/s.

Impact of Self-Phase Modulation on Bandwidth Efficient Modulation Formats
Optical Fiber Communication Conference and International Conference on Quantum Information, 2001We present the influence of self-phase modulation on duobinary and single sideband modulation. Additionally we determine and compare the receiver sensitivity for a bit error ratio of 10/sup -9/ varying fiber length and input power.

Modulation-Format-Independent Wavelength Conversion
Optical Fiber Communication Conference and National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2009This paper provides a proof-of-concept demonstration of modulation-format-independent wavelength conversion with an optical hybrid and an IQ wavelength converter. Multi-format wavelength conversion results are presented by using a SOA-based integrated device.

Single-Carrier Advanced Modulation Formats
2020To build a flexible, low-cost, high-capacity optical routing-based wavelength division multiplexing fiber network, choosing the right modulation format is crucial. Currently, the commercially available 40 Gb/s optical communication systems are all based on the binary modulation format with the wavelength division multiplexing channel interval of 50 GHz

Silicon Photonics Receivers for Advanced Modulation Formats
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference 2015, 2015Three compact silicon-photonics integrated receivers are presented. Two circuits are for the detection of DQPSK signals. The third one is a coherent receiver with a novel architecture without waveguide-crossing. Results up to 28Gbaud are reported.

High-speed integrated optical modulators for advanced modulation formats
SPIE Proceedings, 2006This paper describes high-speed integrated optical modulators for advanced modulation formats, such as differential quadrature-phase-shift-keying (DQPSK), continuous-phase frequency-shift-keying (CP-FSK), etc. 80Gbit/s optical DQPSK modulation was demonstrated by using the modulator consisting of four phase modulators.
