Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

FROG characterisation of SOA-based wavelength conversion using XPM in conjunction with shifted filtering up to line rates of 80 GHz [PDF]
The work we present here builds on recent work where we obtained 80 Gb/s error free performance using cross phase modulation (XPM) in an SOA in conjunction with a blue shifted bandpass filter.

Modulation Schemes for Wireless Access
Four modulation schemes, namely minimum shift keying (MSK), Gaussianminimum shift keying (GMSK), multiamplitude minimum shift keying(MAMSK) and À/4 differential quadrature phase shift keying (À/4-QPSK)are described and their applicability to wireless access is discussedin the paper.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Uniform cross phase modulation for nonclassical radiation pulses
We propose a scheme to achieve a uniform cross phase modulation (XPM) for two nonclassical light pulses and study its application for quantum non-demolition measurements of the photon number in a pulse and for controlled phase gates in quantum ...

Downlink Steered Space-Time Spreading Assisted Generalised Multicarrier DS-CDMA Using Sphere-Packing-Aided Multilevel Coding [PDF]
This paper presents a novel generalised Multi-Carrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system invoking smart antennas for improving the achievable performance in the downlink, as well as employing multi-dimensional Sphere ...

Coherent frequency/phase modulation scheme
An L-phase-levelled coherent frequency/phase modulation (LCFPM) scheme is proposed and analysed for additive white Gaussian noise channels. The optimised LCFPM scheme with L > 2 is found to have superior bandwidth efficiency to the conventional dual-frequency quadrature frequency/phase modulation scheme.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...
