Demonstrating the Temporal Modulation Transfer Function

Perception, 1999
A 120-frame movie, which can be downloaded from specified web sites, allows an observer to see the qualitative form of his or her temporal modulation transfer function. Results collected from two of the authors are presented.

Modulation Transfer Function

1984
Modulation transfer function is a description of a system’s frequency response. It is a plot of the input to output amplitude ratio as a function of the frequency of the sinusoidally modulated input signal.

Modulation Transfer Function of AZ111 Photoresist

Applied Optics, 1971
For the utilization of photoresist materials it is desirable to describe quantitatively the photoresist image and thereby introduce control over photoresist processing. The photoresist AZ111 has been shown to be a linear image recording medium and a modulation transfer function (MTF) defined and measured.

Second-order temporal modulation transfer functions

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2001
Detection thresholds were measured for a sinusoidal modulation applied to the modulation depth of a sinusoidally amplitude-modulated (SAM) white noise carrier as a function of the frequency of the modulation applied to the modulation depth (referred to as fm′).

Modulation Transfer Function

2009
2.1 Introduction An optical system's image quality can be characterized in the spatial domain using the impulse response (spot size) of the system, or in the spatial-frequency domain using the Fourier transform of the impulse response, the transfer function. An ideal system would form a point image of a point object.

Modulation transfer function for infrared reflectarrays

Applied Optics, 2011
The quality of the image produced by optical reflectarrays as a function of the F/#, polarization, and wavelength is analyzed in this paper. The results are expressed as monochromatic and polychromatic modulation transfer functions. They show that large aperture multilevel reflectarrays perform quite close to the diffraction-limited case. The chromatic

Temporal modulation transfer functions based upon modulation thresholds

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
The detectability of amplitude modulation in the absence of spectral cues provides a quantitative description of temporal resolution for steady-state signals with relatively small amplitude changes. Modulation thresholds for sinusoidally amplitude-modulated wideband noise were measured as a function of modulation frequency.
