A Poromechanical Framework for Internal Interactions Induced by Solid Inclusions

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 1804-1819, May 2025.
ABSTRACT The framework of poromechanics is generalized to simulate the multiscale behavior of porous media subjected to internal loadings stemming from the growth of solid inclusions. This generalization is designed to enable the study of anisotropic internal stress generation from solid growth within the pores, while recovering isotropic fluid‐induced

Fluid‐Structure Interaction Simulation of Mitral Valve Structures in a Left Ventricle Model

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 126, Issue 8, 30 April 2025.
ABSTRACT Simulations of blood flow in patient‐specific models of heart ventricles is a rapidly developing field of research, showing promise to improve future treatment of heart diseases. Fluid‐structure interaction simulation of the mitral valve, with its complex structure including leaflets, chordae tendineae, and papillary muscles, provides ...

Projectivity of good moduli spaces of vector bundles on stacky curves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Moduli of vector bundles on stacky curves behave similarly to moduli of vector bundles on curves, except there are additional numerical invariants giving many different notions of stability. We apply the existence criterion for good moduli spaces of stacks to show that the moduli stack of semistable vector bundles on a stacky curve has a proper good ...

Constitutive Models for Active Skeletal Muscle: Review, Comparison, and Application in a Novel Continuum Shoulder Model

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, Volume 41, Issue 4, April 2025.
We propose a constitutive model for active skeletal muscle designed for complex musculoskeletal systems based on a thorough review and comparison of existing approaches. We demonstrate its applicability in various numerical examples, including a large‐scale simulation of a novel continuum shoulder model.

Moduli of abelian covers of elliptic curves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
For any finite abelian group G, we study the moduli space of abelian $G$-covers of elliptic curves, in particular identifying the irreducible components of the moduli space. We prove that, in the totally ramified case, the moduli space has trivial rational Picard group, and it is birational to the moduli space M_{1,n}, where n is the number of branch ...

Thermo‐Electro‐Mechanical Modeling of Failure: Application to Long‐Term Reliability of Aging Transmission Lines

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2025.
A one‐dimensional representation of an initially damaged conductor cable is subject to mechanical tension, heat exchange with the environment, and an electric current, which combined lead to thermal failure from overheating. The deterministic solution of the physical system through the finite element method enters the PCM stochastic solver as a black ...

Connectedness of the moduli space of all reduced curves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We prove that the moduli space of all reduced n-pointed algebraic curves of fixed arithmetic genus is connected as an application of moduli of equinormalized curves and Ishii's theory of territories.

The unirationality of the moduli space of curves of genus $\leq 14$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
The new result is the unirationality of the moduli space of curves of genus 14. The method applies to lower genus.

Hodge loci associated with linear subspaces intersecting in codimension one

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 298, Issue 4, Page 1220-1229, April 2025.
Abstract Let X⊂P2k+1$X\subset \mathbf {P}^{2k+1}$ be a smooth hypersurface containing two k$k$‐dimensional linear spaces Π1,Π2$\Pi _1,\Pi _2$, such that dimΠ1∩Π2=k−1$\dim \Pi _1\cap \Pi _2=k-1$. In this paper, we study the question whether the Hodge loci NL([Π1]+λ[Π2])$\operatorname{NL}([\Pi _1]+\lambda [\Pi _2])$ and NL([Π1],[Π2])$\operatorname{NL ...
