Can ChatGPT Implement Finite Element Models for Geotechnical Engineering Applications?

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 1747-1766, 25 April 2025.
ABSTRACT This study assesses the capability of ChatGPT to generate finite element code for geotechnical engineering applications from a set of prompts. We tested three different initial boundary value problems using a hydro‐mechanically coupled formulation for unsaturated soils, including the dissipation of excess pore water pressure through fluid mass

The weighted moduli spaces of sextics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We use the weighted moduli height as defined in \cite{sh-h} to investigate the distribution of fine moduli points in the moduli space of genus two curves. We show that for any genus two curve with equation $y^2=f(x)$, its weighted moduli height $\mathfrak h (\mathfrak{p}) \leq 2^3 \sqrt{3 \cdot 5 \cdot 7} \, \cdot H(f)$, where $H(f)$ is the minimal ...

Foundations of Ghost Stability

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract The authors present a new method to analytically prove global stability in ghost‐ridden dynamical systems. The proposal encompasses all prior results and consequentially extends them. In particular, it is shown that stability can follow from a conserved quantity that is unbounded from below, contrary to expectation.

Determination of the Coefficient of Diffusivity of Potential Vorticity in a Zonal Channel

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 130, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Understanding mesoscale eddies and their interaction with the basin scale mean flow remains an important problem in physical oceanography. Several different approaches to parameterization of the effects of mesoscale eddies have been examined in the literature.

Topological search and gradient descent boosted Runge–Kutta optimiser with application to engineering design and feature selection

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 557-614, April 2025.
Abstract The Runge–Kutta optimiser (RUN) algorithm, renowned for its powerful optimisation capabilities, faces challenges in dealing with increasing complexity in real‐world problems. Specifically, it shows deficiencies in terms of limited local exploration capabilities and less precise solutions.

Solvent‐annealing‐induced microphase separation in polyether polyurethane: a small‐angle X‐ray scattering study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 58, Issue 2, Page 564-572, April 2025.
Small‐angle X‐ray scattering was applied to polyether polyurethane to investigate the effects of solvent vapor annealing on the microphase separation. Among the solvents studied, methyl ethyl ketone induced the greatest degree of phase separation in polyurethane compared with the thermally annealed state. This study investigated the effects of solvent ...

Genetic algorithm optimized frequency‐domain convolutional blind source separation for multiple leakage locations in water supply pipeline

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 9, Page 1235-1252, 4 April 2025.
Abstract In the realm of using acoustic methods for locating leakages in water supply pipelines, existing research predominantly focuses on single leak localization, with limited exploration into the challenges posed by multiple leak scenarios. To address this gap, a genetic algorithm‐optimized frequency‐domain convolutional blind source separation ...

Arithmetic Satake compactifications and algebraic Drinfeld modular forms

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract In this article, we construct the arithmetic Satake compactification of the Drinfeld moduli schemes of arbitrary rank over the ring of integers of any global function field away from the level structure, and show that the universal family extends uniquely to a generalized Drinfeld module over the compactification.
