Moduli Spaces of Affine Homogeneous Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society - Simon Stevin, 2019
Apart from global topological problems an affine homogeneous space is locally described by its curvature, its torsion and a slightly less tangible object called its connection in a given base point. Using this description of the local geometry of an affine homogeneous space we construct an algebraic variety $\mathfrak{M}(\mathfrak{gl}\,V)$, which ...

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

SPECIAL CURVES AND POSTCRITICALLY FINITE POLYNOMIALS

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Pi, 2013
We study the postcritically finite maps within the moduli space of complex polynomial dynamical systems. We characterize rational curves in the moduli space containing an infinite number of postcritically finite maps, in terms of critical orbit relations,

Moduli Spaces of Abelian Vortices on Kahler Manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We consider the self-dual vortex equations on a positive line bundle L --> M over a compact Kaehler manifold of arbitrary dimension. When M is simply connected, the moduli space of vortex solutions is a projective space. When M is an abelian variety, the

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Flat monodromies and a Moduli Space Size Conjecture

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We investigate how super-Planckian axions can arise when type IIB 3-form flux is used to restrict a two-axion field space to a one-dimensional winding trajectory.

Target space duality and moduli stabilization in String Gas Cosmology

open access: yes, 2006
Motivated by string gas cosmology, we investigate the stability of moduli fields coming from compactifications of string gas on torus with background flux. It was previously claimed that moduli are stabilized only at a single fixed point in moduli space,

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Collective coordinates of the Skyrme model coupled with fermions

open access: yes, 2003
The problem of construction of fiber bundle over the moduli space of the Skyrme model is considered. We analyse an extension of the original Skyrme model which includes the minimal interaction with fermions.
