Since Mohorovicić discovered a dramatic increase in compressional seismic velocity at a depth of 54 km beneath the Kulpa Valley in Croatia, the 'Moho' has become arguably the most important seismological horizon in Earth owing to its role in defining the crust-mantle boundary. It is now known to be a ubiquitous feature of the Earth, being found beneath

Abstract The Moho in subduction zones exists in two distinct forms, one associated with the subducting oceanic plate and second with the overriding plate. The seismic expression of both forms is linked to the nature of a landward dipping, low-velocity zone (LVZ) that has been detected in a majority of subduction zones about the globe and that ...

Moho Modeling Using FFT Technique
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2017To improve the numerical efficiency, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) technique was facilitated in Parker–Oldenburg’s method for a regional gravimetric Moho recovery, which assumes the Earth’s planar approximation. In this study, we extend this definition for global applications while assuming a spherical approximation of the Earth.

MOHO DEPTHS VERSUS GRAVITY ANOMALIES
Survey Review, 1999AbstractIsostatic gravity anomalies are the best suited anomalies for different geodetic applications, such as the interpolation and the geoid determination. Different isostatic hypothesis are discussed and used to compute the depths of the Mohorovic˘ie discontinuity (Moho depths).
