Inversion of Moho topography in Taiwan using improved Parker-Oldenburg method

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Taiwan is located at the junction between the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate, with intense tectonic movements in the region. A more accurate Moho topography model is significant for the study of the intrinsic genesis within Taiwan’s orogenic

Moho Beneath Tibet Based on a Joint Analysis of Gravity and Seismic Data

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
We use the improved Parker‐Oldenburg's formulas that include a reference depth into the exponential term and employ the Gauss‐fast Fourier transform method to determine Moho depth beneath the Tibetan Plateau.

Arc Heat Flow and Magmatic Heat Budgets

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract We evaluate hydrothermal heat loss from 11 volcanic‐arc segments (∼6,000 km of arc length, ∼10% of the global total), motivated by the observation that much magmatic heat ultimately crosses the land surface as heated aqueous fluid. Heat loss takes place by volcanic eruption, geothermal heat conduction to the surface, fumarolic (vapor ...

Crustal Responses to the Destruction of Continental Lithosphere: Insights From Radial Anisotropy of the Tanlu Fault Zone, Eastern China

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Since the Mesozoic, much of the eastern China lithosphere was removed through thermo‐mechanical erosion and delamination, yet the effects on the overlying crust remain unclear. The Tanlu Fault Zone (TLFZ), the region's largest lithosphere‐scale weakness, offers a natural laboratory to assess crustal responses to lithospheric destruction.

Geophysical characterisation of the ocean–continent transition at magma-poor rifted margins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Geophysical characterisation of the ocean-continent transition (OCT) at magma-poor riftedmargins has focused primarily on the determination of P wave velocities using wide-angleseismic techniques. Such experiments have shown that the OCT is heterogeneous,

首都圈及其邻区的电性莫霍面探测

open access: yesDizhen xuebao

Seismic Imaging Reveals Ongoing Modification of Craton Margins in Northeast Asia

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Cratonic margins are commonly modified, yet the processes responsible remain debated. The Korean Peninsula, situated between adjacent cratons, the Japan Trench, and a back‐arc system, provides a natural setting to investigate this problem. Using 4 years of dense seismic observations, we image upper‐mantle structure beneath the peninsula with P‐

Hunting for oceanic island Moho [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2005
SUMMARY The structure of the oceanic crust conforms in general to a very simple model. However, fine-scale variations of this structure in anomalous regions (such as beneath oceanic islands) remain poorly resolved. Here we examine teleseismic receiver functions (RFs) computed at four permanent broadband seismic stations on islands in the Pacific region.

Stress Field and Megathrust Strength in the Western Hellenic Subduction System: Insights From the 2024 Mw 5.9 Strofades Earthquake Sequence, Greece

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract A M5.9 earthquake occurred on 29 March 2024, offshore near the Strofades Islands, in the western Hellenic Subduction System. Here we present high‐precision earthquake locations and focal mechanisms that suggest the rupture of a NNE‐SSW striking, left‐lateral strike‐slip fault.
