Vening Meinesz Moho Depths and Their Approximations

1993
Vening Meinesz (1931) approximated the earth’s crust as an infinite elastic thin plate, of constant thickness T and constant density ρ o, floating on a denser substratum (mantle), of constant density ρ 1. The deformation of the earth’s crust can then be represented by the deformation of this plate.

Moho Depth and Sedimentary Thickness in the Capital Region

Chinese Journal of Geophysics, 2008
AbstractReceiver functions are calculated with teleseismic P waveforms recorded by broadband and short period stations of the Capital Digital Seismic Network, then the thickness and Poisson ratio of crust are investigated with the H‐Kappa method. The inversion results demonstrate that the crust thickens gradually from SE to NW with an average thickness

Machine Learning-Based Quantification of Archean Crustal Thickness (Moho Depth)

The Earth's crust, an incredibly thin layer of rock encompassing the planet's outermost solid shell, plays a crucial role in sustaining human existence by housing vital natural resources. Moreover, actively engaged in a multitude of geological processes such as plate tectonics, volcanic activities, and erosion, it significantly molds landscapes and ...

Antarctic Moho depth model and isostatic state of Southern polar region

Izvestiya, Physics of the Solid Earth, 2017
The paper addresses the study of the Antarctic lithosphere. Based on the new gravimetric and seismic data, the refined model of the Moho depth is constructed. New estimates of the isostatic state are obtained for the Antarctic and Southern Ocean. The interpretation of the results is presented.

Moho depth variations and Vp/Vs ratio in the Zagros (Iran)

In this study, we calculated the crustal thickness and Vp/Vs ratio of the Zagrosusing 3 years of data recorded in 20 permanent broadband seismic stations ofthe Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC). To do this end we analyzed receiverfunctions by the iterative deconvolution in the time domain applying to theteleseismic records.
