Moisture Damage and Asthma: A Birth Cohort Study

Pediatrics, 2015
BACKGROUND: Excess moisture and visible mold are associated with increased risk of asthma. Only a few studies have performed detailed home visits to characterize the extent and location of moisture damage and mold growth.

Moisture damage potential of cold asphalt

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2009
This paper presents a study of the effects of moisture ingress on the mechanical properties of a cold-laid grave emulsion asphalt mixture. A vacuum moisture saturation technique has been developed to induce different moisture levels in laboratory-prepared specimens, which simulate site conditions deduced from a field trial.

Diagnosing and Treating Moisture-Associated Skin Damage

Advances in Skin & Wound Care, 2012
Certain types of moisture can cause debilitating damage to the skin. Terms such as perineal dermatitis, diaper rash, incontinence-associated dermatitis, or moisture-associated skin damage describe some of the conditions caused by moisture from wound drainage, fecal and/or urinary incontinence, and perspiration.

Evaluating Moisture Damage Using Impact Resonance Test

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2021
ABSTRACT Moisture damage in asphalt mixtures has been a major cause for premature failure of asphalt pavements for decades. Although a lot of research has been done and many test methods have been developed to evaluate moisture damage in asphalt mixtures, not much research has been done on the use of nondestructive testing techniques to ...

Recyclability of Moisture Damaged Flexible Pavements

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 1993
Stripping has damaged some of South Carolina's asphaltic concrete pavements. It is not known whether the material properties of stripped asphalt pavement will allow its use for recycling. A field and laboratory study was initiated to investigate the feasibility of reusing moisture‐damaged asphaltic concrete; to determine the effects of antistrip ...

Protecting vulnerable skin from moisture-associated skin damage

British Journal of Nursing, 2016
The skin, the body's largest organ, has several functions. Its barrier role can be undermined if it is in contact with urine, faeces and other sources of excess moisture; overhydration can also increase the likelihood of injury from friction through contact with clothing, incontinence pads or bed linen.

Moisture Penetration and Damage

1984
Visible water is simple to understand and cope with. Roofs are built to shed it, earth is graded to divert it, pipes conduct it. Generally water control is fairly well considered in building design.

Quantifying moisture damage at mastic–aggregate interface

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2013
This study quantifies moisture damage at the asphalt mastic–aggregate interfaces using finite element method modelling technique in ABAQUS. A model aggregate surrounded by a layer of mastic is subjected to static loads of varying magnitudes and patterns.

Laboratory evaluation of moisture damage in asphalt

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2012
Traditionally, moisture damage in asphalt is determined by laboratory testing of liquid asphalt binder, loose mix, and (or) solid asphalt concrete samples under wet and dry conditions. Yet some asphalt mixes pass such laboratory moisture damage tests but show poor moisture damage potential in the field.
