Maturity effects in concrete dams [PDF]
Model equations for determining the coupled heat, moisture and maturity changes within a concrete block are introduced and briefly examined. Preliminary results are obtained for the heat exchange between concrete slabs in contact driven by maturity ...

Validation of a coupled heat, vapour and liquid moisture transport model for porous materials implemented in CFD [PDF]
Moisture-related damage is an important issue when looking at the performance of building envelopes. In order to accurately predict the moisture behaviour of building components, building designers can resort to Heat, Air and Moisture (HAM) models.

Can Ti‐Based MXenes Serve as Solid Lubricants for Brake Applications? A Tribological Study
This study explores the first implementation of Ti‐based MXenes materials in brake pad friction composite material. The resulting composite material exhibits a 48% reduction in the wear rate; alongside significant improvements are observed for thermal and mechanical properties.

Study on Effective Diffusivity of Sea Cucumbers with Heat Pump Drying
The effective diffusivity is an important parameter for mass transfer research on the drying of sea cucumbers. The dependence of the effective diffusivity on temperature has been adopted in current studies, while the effects of moisture content and ...

Time Evolution of CO2 Diffusivity of Carbonated Concrete
Carbonation of cementitious materials is one of main causes of reinforcement corrosion and CO2 diffusivity influenced by microstructural characteristics of the cementitious materials is a decisive parameter for the carbonation rate. This study focused on

Moisture movement in bulk stockpiles [PDF]
Both drainage and evaporation are possible mechanisms for moisture loss in iron-ore and coal stockpiles. Some simple models are used to study both these mechanisms for various stages of stockpiling.

This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Heat and Moisture Conduction in Unsaturated Soils [PDF]
Mathematical models are developed for the prediction of heat transfer from hot water pipes buried in the soil. Heat transfer in the absence of moisture transfer is described as a function of the difference between the temperature of the pipe and the ...

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.
