Evaluation of Moisture Susceptibility of Nanoclay-Modified Asphalt Binders

Application of Nanotechnology in Pavements, Geological Disasters, and Foundation Settlement Control Technology, 2014
Due to an increasing rate of traffic volume and truck loads in recent years, neat asphalt binders are often modified with expensive polymers for increased stiffness. Nanoclays, conversely, are relatively inexpensive and naturally abundant, and have favorable intrinsic properties (e.g., nanoscopic size and surface area).

Moisture Susceptibility of Superpave Mixtures with Varying Binder Contents

Airfield and Highway Pavements 2015, 2015
The process control for the hot-mix asphalt mixtures (HMA) by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) requires each lot of HMA be produced within ±0.6% of the design binder content. Recent reviews indicate that HMA lots are being produced consistently with lower binder contents. This situation has been exacerbated by the use of higher proportion

Performance Prediction and Moisture Susceptibility of Anisotropic Pavement Foundations

Paving Materials and Pavement Analysis, 2010
Significant work has been done by the International Center for Aggregate Research (ICAR) to identify the effects of the anisotropic nature of compacted base courses on the stress, strain, and permanent deformation characteristics of pavement foundations.

Characterization of asphalt materials’ moisture susceptibility using multiple methods

Construction and Building Materials, 2017
Abstract Moisture damage seriously deteriorates asphalt pavement’s performance and durability and is therefore one of the major problems of asphalt pavements. Currently, researchers pay most attention to macro investigation of moisture damage in asphalt materials.

Study on Moisture Susceptibility of Foamed Warm Mix Asphalt

2018
Warm mix asphalt (WMA) is the asphalt concrete mixtures that are produced at lower temperatures than the hot mix asphalt. There are important environmental and health benefits associated with the reduced production temperatures and this can also potentially improve pavement performance. However, there exists one concern about the moisture damage of WMA

Moisture susceptibility of resin-modified glass-ionomer materials.

Quintessence international (Berlin, Germany : 1985), 1995
The purposes of this experiment were to determine if resin-modified glass-ionomer cements are less sensitive to moisture than are conventional glass-ionomer cements, to investigate the effects of barrier coatings, and to study the effects of different setting environments.

Moisture susceptibility of WMA mixes with modified bituminous binders

Petroleum Science and Technology, 2017
ABSTRACTMoisture-induced damage has been a major concern associated with warm mix asphalt (WMA). This study focused on the evaluation of moisture susceptibility characteristics of WMA mixes with different WMA additives and modified bituminous binders through the tensile strength ratio (TSR) and retained Marshall stability (RMS) tests.

The influence of soil moisture on magnetic susceptibility measurements

Journal of Applied Geophysics, 2006
An important methodological question for magnetic susceptibility measurements is if a variation of the soil conductivity, as a result of a change in soil moisture, influences the measured susceptibility values. An answer to this question is essential because an accurate magnetic susceptibility mapping requires a grid of comparable magnetic ...

Moisture susceptibility of asphalt mixtures: A Literature Review

2017
Moisture susceptibility of asphalt mixtures, generally called stripping, has been known as the biggest performance concern influencing the durability of asphalt pavements. Moisture induced damage of asphalt pavement is an extremely complicated mode of distress that leads to the loss of stiffness and structural strength of the mixture and even ...
