Nonisothermal moisture transport in hygroscopic building materials: modeling for the determination of moisture transport coefficients

open access: yesTransport in Porous Media, 2007
A mathematical model for calculating the nonisothermal moisture transfer in building materials is presented in the article. The coupled heat and moisture transfer problem was modeled. Vapor content and temperature were chosen as principal driving potentials.

Moisture transport in coated wood

open access: yesProgress in Organic Coatings, 2011
Moisture accumulation inside wood causes favorable conditions for decay. Application of a coating alters the moisture sorption of wood and prevents accumulation of moisture. This paper presents the results of a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) study on the influence of a coating on the moisture absorption of wood.

Moisture transport in knitted fabrics

Technologia i Jakość Wyrobów, 2023
Knitted fabrics are often used in clothing worn next to the skin. Therefore, they are expected to be characterized by excellent properties affecting the physiological comfort of clothing usage, especially the ability to wick away sweat. As part of the work, tests were carried out on 5 variants of knitted fabrics in terms of the ability to transport ...

Diffusion of moisture into building materials: A model for moisture transport

Energy and Buildings, 2014
Abstract Presence of moisture in the building materials leads to a larger energy loss, especially in winter; therefore, drying is important to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. The drying process is based on the evaporation of the liquid water on the material surface where the water vapor releases to surrounding, or it is based on the ...

Moisture Sorption, Transport, and Hydrolytic Degradation in Polylactide

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 1996
Management of moisture penetration and hydrolytic degradation of polylactide (PLA) is extremely important during the manufacturing, shipping, storage, and end-use of PLA products. Moisture transport, crystallization, and degradation, in PLA have been measured through a variety of experimental techniques including size-exclusion chromatography ...

Moisture Transport in Concrete

2018
After presenting the fundamentals in the previous chapters constituting Part I, we begin here Part II dealing with advanced topics. In this chapter, we study concrete as porous material, the mechanical behavior of which is strongly affected by the presence and migration of moisture (i.e., various phases of water) through the pore space.

Investigation of moisture transport properties of cementitious materials

open access: yesCement and Concrete Research, 2016
International audienceMoisture transport in cementitious materials is directly related to the durability of concrete structures. When the material loses moisture, the drying shrinkage induces cracks which are harmful to the solid body.

MOISTURE AND EASTERLY MOISTURE TRANSPORT AT TRINIDAD

Monthly Weather Review, 1965
Abstract Frequency distributions are presented of the liquid equivalent of water vapor (precipitable water) at 10°N., at Trinidad, W.I., derived from observations by the U.S. Navy rawinsonde station. The distributions are shown by height and by season.
