Lower third molars

open access: yesNational Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery, 2014
There has always been a debate whether to remove or leave asymptomatic mesioangular impacted lower third molars. The present short communication discusses the merit of prophylactic removal to avoid clinical complications in future and the consequences to second molars.

Efficacy of platelet rich fibrin in the reduction of the pain and swelling after impacted third molar surgery: Randomized multicenter split-mouth clinical trial

open access: yesHead & Face Medicine, 2015
BackgroundImpacted third molar removal is a routine procedure in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a second generation platelet concentration which is produced by simplified protocol.

Quality Enhancement of Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion Parts by Acoustically Assisted Additive Manufacturing by Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion and its Application to Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing technologies like laser powder‐bed fusion offer great design freedom and individualization of products down to a batch size of one. However, parts fabricated with this technology suffer from poor quality. Acoustic assistance during the build process can minimize these drawbacks.

Mechanical Behavior and Microstructural Changes Associated with Tensile Deformation above the Martensite Start Temperature during Quenching and Subsequent Partitioning of a Low‐Alloy 37SiB6 Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new experimental setup, incorporating digital image correlation and infrared thermography in combination with inductive‐conductive heating for precise temperature control, is used to analyze the mechanical behavior and microstructural changes of sheet metal under complex thermomechanical test conditions that represent quench and partitioning ...

Development of Aluminum Scandium Alloys for Hydrogen Storage Valves

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Different aluminum alloy series and various aluminum‐scandium alloys with differing Sc and Zr levels are evaluated for use in hydrogen storage valve production. The alloys undergo hardness testing, optical microscopy, and tensile strength analysis, with hardening behavior studied under varying conditions.

Fusion of the 2nd maxillary molar with the impacted 3rd molar

open access: yesBratislava Medical Journal, 2012
Subject matter: The dentist has to deal with complicated cases of fused molars, which are rather rare and morphologically very varied. A wrong or incomplete diagnosis can considerably complicate a planned therapy. The authors describe a case of apical periodontal complication of fused teeth that had to be removed surgically.
