Positive Predictive Value of Panoramic Radiography for Assessment of the Relationship of Impacted Mandibular Third Molars with the Mandibular Canal Based on Cone-Beam Computed Tomography: A Cross-Sectional Study

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2021
The aim of the present study was to assess the positive predictive value (PPV) of panoramic radiographic signs in the assessment of the relationship between impacted mandibular third molars (IMTMs) and the mandibular canal (MC).

Cofinement, entropy, and single-particle dynamics of equilibrium hard-sphere mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 127, 154513 (2007), 2007
We use discontinuous molecular dynamics and grand-canonical transition-matrix Monte Carlo simulations to explore how confinement between parallel hard walls modifies the relationships between packing fraction, self-diffusivity, partial molar excess entropy, and total excess entropy for binary hard-sphere mixtures.

The evaluation of occlusal relationship between the primary canines and primary molars in 3 to 5-year-old Iranian children [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Materials and Techniques, 2017
Aim: As to the assessment of occlusal status pertaining to primary canines and molars, the latter is less within reach as it is difficult to guide jaws towards a centric occlusion while maintaining a vintage point in both direct and indirect observation.

Size distributions of chemically synthesized Ag nanocrystals [PDF]

open access: yesA. Th{\o}gersen, J. Bonsak, C. Huseby Fosli, G. Muntingh. Size distributions of chemically synthesized Ag nanocrystals. Journal of Applied Physics, Volume 110, Issue 4 (2011), 2012
Silver nanocrystals made by a chemical reduction of silver salts (AgNO$_3$) by sodium borohydride (NaBH$_4$) were studied using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and light scattering simulations. For various AgNO$_3$/NaBH$_4$ molar ratios, the size distributions of the nanocrystals were found to be approximately log-normal.

A Bio-Realistic Finite Element Model to Evaluate the Effect of Masticatory Loadings on Mouse Mandible-Related Tissues

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
Mice are arguably the dominant model organisms for studies investigating the effect of genetic traits on the pathways to mammalian skull and teeth development, thus being integral in exploring craniofacial and dental evolution.

The groove configuration of mandibular molars of Malaysians of Mongoloid ancestry

open access: yesJournal of Oral Research, 2023
Aim: Variation in dental structures is widely accepted as a combination of multiple factors such as gender, environmental effects and genetics. However, the characterization of similarities and differences in dental morphology has been lacking in ...

A macroscopic model that connects the molar excess entropy of a deeply supercooled liquid near its glass transition temperature to its viscosity [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 137, 204506 (2012), 2012
For a deeply supercooled liquid near its glass transition temperature, we suggest a possible way to connect the temperature dependence of its molar excess entropy to that of its viscosity by constructing a macroscopic model, where the deeply supercooled liquid is assumed to be a mixture of solid-like and liquid-like micro regions.

Ectopic Permanent Molars: A Review

open access: yesDentistry Journal, 2023
Ectopic permanent molar is a condition in which the permanent tooth deviates from its normal path of eruption. The etiology of this eruption anomaly is multifactorial, with both general and local factors.

Cone-beam computed tomography study of tooth root and canal morphology of permanent molars in a Serbian population [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2020
Background/Aim. For successful endodontic therapy, it is necessary to know root morphology. Therefore, the aim of our study was to analyze root canal morphology and root canal length of permanent molars in a Serbian population, using cone-beam computed ...
